School is out for the (short by American standards) summer vacation. The first week of vacation was taken up with the first of our three Summer Labor Schools that involved almost all of our students. (See more below.) Several of the students have elected to devote more of their vacation time to serving as volunteer staff for the second and third weeks of labor school.

 

학교는 여름방학 중입니다. 방학의 첫 주간에는 대부분의 학생들이 노동학교에 참석했습니다.(자세한 사항은 아래에 나와있습니다.) 몇몇 학생들이 2주차와 3주차 노동학교에서 ‘일꾼’으로 참석하기로 했습니다.

 

We continue to thank God for his provision for the school as he has been generous in seeing us through the summer and well into the second semester. We still need a Korean language teacher so keep praying for the Lord to send the right person to us. We also continue to think about, pray and plan for next school year (beginning next March) when we start our senior year--third year of high school.

Keep these things in your prayers even as you pray for the students and teachers to get a good rest. Thank you.

 

학교에 공급하시는 하나님으로 인해 계속해서 감사를 드립니다. 이번 여름방학과 2학기에 주님은 저희에게 넉넉히 공급해주셨습니다. 저희는 계속 국어 선생님을 구하고 있습니다. 주님이 저희에게 꼭 맞는 사람을 보내 주시도록 함께 기도해주십시오. 또 저희는 고3과정이 시작되는 내년(3월부터 시작되는)을 위해 기도하며 계획하고 있습니다.

The Fourth River Project 네번째 강 계획

 

We have been enjoying our labor schools this summer with a focus on going up the mountain of the Lord to pray. Our theme verse is M

icah 4:2, Many nations will come and say, "Come and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD And to the house of the God of Jacob, That He may teach us about His ways And that we may walk in His paths." Being "labor school", of course we have a focus on labor as prayer but we have been learning about other forms of prayer as well. A special feature this year has been "Harp and Bowl" combining improvisational music, prayer and Bible reading. While it has been a challenge to many of our people, it has been a good experience for us all. Everything at our labor schools is a challenge--working on th e land, staying in tents, being challenged about North Korea and learning new and unfamiliar ways to worship and pray. The highlight of each week is a twelve hour prayer relay at the Watershed Point running from Thursday night to Friday morning. This has been a very special and all voluntary experience in prayer at this very significant location where the waters flow to the seas surrounding Korea and where the Fourth River, the River of Life, begins flowing north.

 

여호와의 산에 올라가 기도하는 일에 집중하기로 한 이번 노동학교에서 저희는 즐거운 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 이번 노동학교의 주제는 미가서 4장 2절 말씀입니다. “곧 많은 이방 사람들이 가며 이르기를 오라 우리가 여호와의 산에 올라가서 야곱의 하나님의 전에 이르자 그가 그의 도를 가지고 우리에게 가르치실 것이니라 우리가 그의 길로 행하리라 하리니 이는 율법이 시온에서부터 나올 것이요 여호와의 말씀이 예루살렘에서부터 나올 것임이라” “노동학교”로서, 물론 저희는 기도로서의 노동에도 초점을 맞추고 있습니다만, 다른 형태의 기도에 대해서도 배우고 있습니다. 이번 노동학교의 특징은 즉흥적인 음악과 기도, 성경말씀을 합친 “하프 앤 볼(Harp and Bowl)” 입니다. 저희 안의 많은 사람들에게 도전이 되었고 또 좋은 경험이 되었습니다. 노동학교의 모든 것이 도전이 됩니다. –이 땅에서 일하는 것, 천막 안에서 자는 것, 북한에 대한 도전을 받는 것, 익숙하지 않은 예배와 기도의 형태를 배우는 것이 말입니다. 매주간마다 하이라이트는 목요일 밤부터 금요일까지 12시간 동안 삼수점에서 릴레이 기도를 하는 것입니다. 이 장소는 한국의 3면의 바다로 물이 뻗어나가는 지점인 동시에 북한으로 생명의강, 네번째 강이 흐르게 되는 특별한 장소이며, 이곳에서 학생들은 자원함으로 이루어지는 특별한 기도의 경험을 하고 있습니다.  

 

 

Loren Cunningham Vision Tour 로렌 커닝햄 비전 여행

 

Speaking of the Watershed Point. We are truly pleased to announce a very special event coming up on Saturday, September 28th. Put it on your calendars! If you are in Korea then, please come. Loren Cunningham, founder of Youth With a Mission, has a strong burden to call the Korean Church to unity and prayer in order to prepare for Korean unification. In response to this burden, placed in his heart by God, he is making three trips to Korea this year (he is in his 80s!) to preach this message in various different parts of the country. His final trip will begin at the Watershed Point on Jesus Abbey's Three Seas Ranch. The outdoor service at the Three Seas will begin at 1:00pm on September 28th. Please come. (Last month I mentioned an evening service in Taebaek but we have changed our plans to focus on the one event.) We are planning for at least a thousand participants from all across the country. It will be a very special time of prayer for the nation and a chance to hear Loren Cunningham share his heart. Put it on your schedule! Three Seas Ranch and Center 삼수령 센터

 

Keep our Ranch community in your prayers as everyone is very busy with all the extra things going on while also heavily engaged in caring for our herd of cattle and selling beef. All profits support The River of Life School and the work of the Three Seas Center.

 

공동체 식구들이 소를 돌보고 판매하는 기존의 작업들에 다른 일들을 더 맡아서 몹시 바쁜 시간을 보내고 있습니다. 모든 수익은 생명의강 학교와 삼수령 센터를 위해 사용됩니다.

 

We are also all set to begin construction on the Center as soon as the Lord sends the funds. Thank you for all your prayers that brought us to the point of having all the necessary permits in hand. The major labor component of our schools this summer is to cut and remove the trees on the construction site--hard work, but the students have been enthusiastic about it.

 

저희는 또 하나님이 자금을 보내지면 바로 건축을 시작할 수 있도록 삼수령 센터를 지을 준비를 하고 있습니다. 저희가 필요한 허가를 모두 얻을 수 있도록 함께 기도해주셔서 감사합니다. 이번 노동학교의 노동은 건축부지에 심겨진 나무들을 베고, 옮기는 일들이었습니다. 어려운 일이었지만, 학생들은 열정적으로 참여했습니다.

 

 

Renewing the Legacy of RA Torrey  RA토레이의 유산

 

We are excited to announce the upcoming “Renewing the Legacy of R.A. Torrey” conference. This renewal event will take place August 23rd and 24th at the beautiful Montrose Bible Conference in Montrose, PA, founded by Torrey in 1907. For many years thousands gathered in Montrose each summer at the 3,000 seat Tabernacle for weeks of teaching, preaching and revival led by well-known speakers, including Dr. Billy Graham and many others.

The Legacy of R.A. Torrey is alive and relevant for today. The event will honor the past and propel attenders into the future by appropriating R.A. Torrey’s teaching.
