야고보서 3:13-18
13 여러분 가운데 지혜롭고 지식이 있는 사람이 있다면 그 사람은 지혜로운 사람답게 온유한 마음을 가지고 착한 생활을 함으로써 그 증거를 보여 주도록 하십시오. Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
14 여러분은 마음 속에 고약한 시기심과 이기적인 야심을 품고 있으니 공연히 잘난 체하지 마십시오. 진리를 거슬러 거짓말을 해서는 안 되겠습니다. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth.
15 이런 지혜는 위에서 내려 오는 것이 아니라 세속적이며 동물적이며 악마적인 것입니다.
Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil.
16 시기심과 이기적인 야심이 있는 곳에는 분란과 온갖 더러운 행실이 생기게 마련입니다.
For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice.
17 그러나 위에서 내려 오는 지혜는 첫째 순결하고 다음은 평화롭고 점잖고 고분고분하고 자비와 착한 행실로 가득 차 있으며 편견과 위선이 없습니다.
But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere.
18 평화를 위해서 일하는 사람들은 평화를 심어서 정의의 열매를 거두어 들입니다.
Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

시편 19:7-14
7 야훼의 법은 이지러짐이 없어 사람에게 생기를 돌려주고 야훼의 법도는 변함이 없어 어리석은 자도 깨우쳐 준다. The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
8 야훼의 분부는 그릇됨이 없어 사람의 마음을 즐겁게 하고 야훼의 계명은 맑아서 사람의 눈을 밝혀 준다. The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes.
9 야훼의 말씀은 순수하여 영원토록 흔들리지 아니하고 야훼의 법령은 참되어 옳지 않은 것이 없다.
The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The ordinances of the LORD are sure and altogether righteous.
10 금보다, 순금덩이보다 더 좋고 꿀보다, 송이꿀보다 더욱 달다. They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the comb.
11 당신 종이 그 말씀으로 깨우침 받고 그대로 살면 후한 상을 받겠거늘
By them is your servant warned; in keeping them there is great reward.
12 뉘 있어 제 허물을 다 알리이까? 모르고 짓는 죄일랑 말끔히 씻어주소서.
Who can discern his errors? Forgive my hidden faults.
13 일부러 범죄할까, 이 몸 막아 주시고 그 손아귀에 잡힐까, 날 지켜 주소서. 그제야 이 몸은 대역죄 씻고 온전히 깨끗하게 되리이다. Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then will I be blameless, innocent of great transgression.
14 내 바위, 내 구원자이신 야훼여, 내 생각과 내 말이 언제나 당신 마음에 들게 하소서.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.

마르코 9:14-29
14 그들이 다른 제자들이 있는 곳으로 돌아 와 보니 제자들이 큰 군중에게 둘러 싸여 율법학자들과 말다툼을 하고 있었다. When they came to the other disciples, they saw a large crowd around them and the teachers of the law arguing with them.
15 사람들은 예수를 보자 모두 놀라서 달려 와 인사를 하였다.
As soon as all the people saw Jesus, they were overwhelmed with wonder and ran to greet him.
16 예수께서 그들에게 "무슨 일로 저 사람들과 다투고 있느냐?" 하고 물으시자
"What are you arguing with them about?" he asked.
17 그들 가운데 한 사람이 나서서 "선생님, 악령이 들려 말을 못하는 제 아들을 선생님께 보이려고 데려 왔습니다. A man in the crowd answered, "Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech.
18 악령이 한번 발작하면 그 아이는 땅에 딩굴며 거품을 내뿜고 이를 갈다가 몸이 빳빳해지고 맙니다. 그래서 선생님의 제자들에게 악령을 쫓아내 달라고 했더니 쫓아내지 못했습니다" 하였다.
Whenever it seizes him, it throws him to the ground. He foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth and becomes rigid. I asked your disciples to drive out the spirit, but they could not."
19 예수께서는 "아, 이 세대가 왜 이다지도 믿음이 없을까! 내가 언제까지 너희와 함께 살며 이 성화를 받아야 한단 말이냐? 그 아이를 나에게 데려 오너라" 하셨다. "O unbelieving generation," Jesus replied, "how long shall I stay with you? How long shall I put up with you? Bring the boy to me."
20 그들이 아이를 예수께 데려 오자 악령이 예수를 보고는 곧 아이에게 심한 발작을 일으키게 했다. 그래서 아이는 땅에 넘어져 입에 거품을 흘리며 딩굴었다.
So they brought him. When the spirit saw Jesus, it immediately threw the boy into a convulsion. He fell to the ground and rolled around, foaming at the mouth.
21 예수께서 그 아버지에게 "아이가 이렇게 된 지 얼마나 되었느냐?"하고 물으시자 그는 이렇게 대답하였다. "어렸을 때부터입니다.
Jesus asked the boy's father, "How long has he been like this?" "From childhood," he answered.
22 악령의 발작으로 그 아이는 불 속에 뛰어 들기도 하고 물 속에 빠지기도 하였습니다. 그래서 여러 번 죽을 뻔하였습니다. 선생님께서 하실 수 있다면 자비를 베푸셔서 저희를 도와 주십시오."
"It has often thrown him into fire or water to kill him. But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."
23 이 말에 예수께서 "'할 수만 있다면' 이 무슨 말이냐? 믿는 사람에게는 안 되는 일이 없다" 하시자
"'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes."
24 아이 아버지는 큰 소리로 "저는 믿습니다. 그러나 제 믿음이 부족하다면 도와 주십시오" 하고 청하였다. Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
25 예수께서는 사람들의 몰려드는 것을 보시고 더러운 악령을 꾸짖으시며 "말 못하고 듣지 못하게 하는 악령아, 들어라. 그 아이에게서 썩 나와 다시는 들어가지 말아라" 하고 호령하셨다.
When Jesus saw that a crowd was running to the scene, he rebuked the evil spirit. "You deaf and mute spirit," he said, "I command you, come out of him and never enter him again."
26 그러자 악령이 소리를 지르며 그 아이에게 심한 발작을 일으켜 놓고 나가 버렸다. 그 바람에 아이가 죽은 것 같이 되자 사람들은 모두 "아이가 죽었구나!" 하고 웅성거렸다. The spirit shrieked, convulsed him violently and came out. The boy looked so much like a corpse that many said, "He's dead."
27 그러나 예수께서 아이의 손을 잡아 일으키시자 그 아이는 벌떡 일어났다.
But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him to his feet, and he stood up.
28 그 뒤 예수께서 집으로 들어 가셨을 때에 제자들이 "왜 저희는 악령을 쫓아 내지 못하였습니까?" 하고 넌지시 물었다.
After Jesus had gone indoors, his disciples asked him privately, "Why couldn't we drive it out?"
29 예수께서는 "기도하지 않고서는 그런 것을 쫓아 낼 수 없다" 하고 대답하셨다.
He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer."

말씀 묵상
22 .. 선생님께서 하실 수 있다면 자비를 베푸셔서 저희를 도와 주십시오."
But if you can do anything, take pity on us and help us."
23 이 말에 예수께서 "'할 수만 있다면' 이 무슨 말이냐? 믿는 사람에게는 안 되는 일이 없다" 하시자
"'If you can'?" said Jesus. "Everything is possible for him who believes."
24 아이 아버지는 큰 소리로 "저는 믿습니다. 그러나 제 믿음이 부족하다면 도와 주십시오" 하고 청하였다. Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"

29 예수께서는 "기도하지 않고서는 그런 것을 쫓아 낼 수 없다" 하고 대답하셨다.
He replied, "This kind can come out only by prayer."

기도
야훼의 말씀이 금보다, 순금덩이보다 더 좋고 꿀보다, 송이꿀보다 더욱 달다는 고백이 우리 가운데 있게 하소서.
