야고보서 2:1-9
1 나의 형제 여러분, 여러분은 우리 주님이신 영광의 예수 그리스도를 믿고 있으니 사람들을 차별해서 대우하지 마십시오.
My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't show favoritism.
2 가령 여러분의 회당에 금가락지를 끼고 화려한 옷을 입은 사람과 남루한 옷을 입은 사람이 들어 왔다고 합시다. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.
3 그 때 여러분이 화려한 옷차림을 한 사람에게는 특별한 호의를 보이며 "여기 윗자리에 앉으십시오" 하고 가난한 사람에게는 "거기 서 있든지 밑바닥에 앉든지 하시오" 하고 말한다면
If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say, "Here's a good seat for you," but say to the poor man, "You stand there" or "Sit on the floor by my feet,"
4 여러분은 불순한 생각으로 사람들을 판단하여 차별 대우를 하는 것이 아니고 무엇이겠습니까?
have you not discriminated among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 내 사랑하는 형제 여러분, 잘 들으십시오. 하나님께서는 이 세상의 가난한 사람을 택하셔서 믿음을 부요하게 하시고 당신을 사랑하는 사람들에게 약속해 주신 그 나라를 차지하게 하지 않으셨습니까?
Listen, my dear brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love him?
6 그런데 여러분은 가난한 사람들을 업신여겼습니다. 여러분을 압박하는 자들은 바로 부자가 아닙니까? 또 여러분을 법정으로 끌고 가는 자들도 그들이 아닙니까? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?
7 하나님께서 여러분에게 주신 그 존귀한 이름을 모독하는 자들도 바로 그들이 아닙니까?
Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to whom you belong?
8 여러분이 성경 말씀을 따라 "네 이웃을 네 몸같이 사랑하라" 는 최고의 법을 지킨다면 잘 하는 일이지만 If you really keep the royal law found in Scripture, "Love your neighbor as yourself," you are doing right.
9 차별을 두고 사람을 대우한다면 그것은 죄를 짓는 것이고 여러분은 계명을 어기는 사람으로 판정됩니다. But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as lawbreakers.

시편 34:1-7 (Of David.)
1 나 어떤 일이 있어도 야훼를 찬양하리라. 주를 찬양하는 노래 내 입에서 그칠 날이 없으리라.
When he pretended to be insane before Abimelech, who drove him away, and he left. I will extol the LORD at all times; his praise will always be on my lips.
2 나의 자랑, 야훼께 있으니 비천한 자들아 듣고 기뻐하여라.
My soul will boast in the LORD; let the afflicted hear and rejoice.
3 나와 함께 "야훼, 높으시도다" 노래 부르자. 모두 소리 맞춰 그 이름을 기리자.
Glorify the LORD with me; let us exalt his name together.
4 야훼 찾아 호소할 때 들어 주시고 몸서리쳐지는 곤경에서 건져 주셨다.
I sought the LORD, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.
5 그를 쳐다보는 자, 그 얼굴 빛나고 부끄러운 꼴 당하지 아니하리라.
Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.
6 가엾은 자의 부르짖음을 야훼, 들으시고 곤경에서 건져 주셨다.
This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles.
7 야훼의 천사가 그를 경외하는 자들 둘레에 진을 치고 그들을 구해주셨다.
The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

마르코복음 8:27-33
27 예수께서 제자들과 함께 필립보의 가이사리아 지방에 있는 마을들을 향하여 길을 떠나셨다. 가시는 도중에 제자들에게 "사람들이 나를 누구라고 하더냐?" 하고 물으셨다.
Jesus and his disciples went on to the villages around Caesarea Philippi. On the way he asked them, "Who do people say I am?"
28 "세례자 요한이라고들 합니다. 그러나 엘리야라고 하는 사람들도 있고 예언자 중의 한 분이라고 하는 사람들도 있습니다" 하고 제자들이 대답하였다.
They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets."
29 "그러면 너희는 나를 누구라고 생각하느냐?" 하고 예수께서 다시 물으시자 베드로가 나서서 "선생님은 그리스도이십니다" 하고 대답하였다.
"But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?" Peter answered, "You are the Christ."
30 그러자 예수께서는 자기 이야기를 아무에게도 하지 말라고 단단히 당부하셨다.
Jesus warned them not to tell anyone about him.
31 그 때에 비로소 예수께서는 사람의 아들이 반드시 많은 고난을 받고 원로들과 대사제들과 율법학자들에게 버림을 받아 그들의 손에 죽었다가 사흘 만에 다시 살아나시게 될 것임을 제자들에게 가르쳐 주셨다. He then began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders, chief priests and teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and after three days rise again.
32 예수께서는 이 말씀을 명백하게 하셨던 것이다. 이 말씀을 듣고 베드로는 예수를 붙들고 그래서는 안 된다고 펄쩍 뛰었다.
He spoke plainly about this, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him.
33 그러자 예수께서는 돌아서서 제자들을 보신 다음 베드로에게 "사탄아, 물러가라. 하나님의 일은 생각하지 않고 사람의 일만 생각하는구나!" 하시며 꾸짖으셨다.
But when Jesus turned and looked at his disciples, he rebuked Peter. "Get behind me, Satan!" he said. "You do not have in mind the things of God, but the things of men."
