야고보서 1:19-27
19 나의 사랑하는 형제 여러분, 여러분이 알아두어야 할 일이 있습니다. 누구든지 듣기는 빨리 하고 말하기는 더디 하십시오. 또 여간해서는 화를 내지 마십시오.
My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,
20 화를 내는 사람은 하나님의 정의를 이룰 수가 없습니다.
for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
21 그러므로 모든 더러운 것과 온갖 악한 행실을 버리고 하나님께서 여러분의 마음 속에 심으신 말씀을 공손히 받아들이십시오. 그 말씀에는 여러분을 구원할 능력이 있습니다.
Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you.
22 그러니 그저 듣기만 하여 자기 자신을 속이는 사람이 되지 말고 말씀대로 실천하는 사람이 되십시오. Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
23 말씀을 듣고도 실천하지 않는 사람은 제 얼굴의 생김새를 거울에다 비추어 보는 사람과 같습니다.
Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror
24 그 사람은 제 얼굴을 비추어 보고도 물러나서는 곧 제 모습을 잊어버리고 맙니다.
and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.
25 그러나 우리에게 자유를 주는 완전한 법을 잘 살피고 꾸준히 지켜나가는 사람은 그것을 듣고 곧 잊어 버리는 일이 없으며 들은 것을 실천에 옮깁니다. 이렇게 실천함으로써 그 사람은 하나님의 축복을 받을 것입니다.
But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.
26 누구든지 자기가 신앙생활을 한다고 생각하면서도 자기 혀를 억제하지 못한다면 그것은 자기 자신을 속이는 셈이니 그의 신앙생활은 결국 헛것이 됩니다. If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless.
27 하나님 아버지 앞에 떳떳하고 순수한 신앙생활을 하는 사람은 어려움을 당하고 있는 고아들과 과부들을 돌보아 주며 자기 자신을 지켜 세속에 물들지 않게 하는 사람입니다.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

시편 15
1 야훼여! 당신 장막에서 살 자 누구입니까? 당신의 거룩한 산에 머무를 자 누구입니까?
A psalm of David. LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill?
2 허물없이 정직하게 살며 마음으로부터 진실을 말하고
He whose walk is blameless and who does what is righteous, who speaks the truth from his heart
3 남을 모함하지 않는 사람, 이웃을 해치지 않고 친지를 모욕하지 않으며,
and has no slander on his tongue, who does his neighbor no wrong and casts no slur on his fellowman,
4 야훼 눈밖에 난 자를 얕보되 야훼 두려워하는 이를 높이는 사람, 손해를 보아도 맹세를 지키고,
who despises a vile man but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his oath even when it hurts,
5 돈놀이하지 않으며, 뇌물을 받고 무죄한 자를 해치지 않는 사람. 이렇게 사는 사람은 영원히 흔들리지 아니하리라. who lends his money without usury and does not accept a bribe against the innocent. He who does these things will never be shaken.

마르코복음 8:22-26
22 예수의 일행이 베싸이다에 이르렀을 때에 사람들이 소경 한 사람을 예수께 데리고 와서 손을 대어 고쳐 주시기를 청하였다.
They came to Bethsaida, and some people brought a blind man and begged Jesus to touch him.
23 예수께서는 소경의 손을 잡고 마을 밖으로 데리고 나가서 그의 두 눈에 침을 바라고 손을 얹으신 다음 "무엇이 좀 보이느냐?" 하고 물으셨다.
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man's eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, "Do you see anything?"
24 그러자 그는 눈을 뜨면서 "나무 같은 것이 보이는데 걸어 다니는걸 보니 아마 사람들인가 봅니다" 하고 대답하였다.
He looked up and said, "I see people; they look like trees walking around."
25 예수께서 다시 그의 눈에 손을 대시자 눈이 밝아지고 완전히 성해져서 모든 것을 똑똑히 보게 되었다. Once more Jesus put his hands on the man's eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly.
26 예수께서는 "저 마을로는 돌아가지 말아라" 하시며 그를 집으로 보내셨다.
Jesus sent him home, saying, "Don't go into the village."
