이사야 40:21-31
21 너희는 모르느냐? 듣지 못하였느냐? 한 처음부터 너희 인간에게 알려진 것이 아니냐? 땅의 터가 잡힐 때부터 잘 알고 있던 일이 아니냐? Do you not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded?
22 지구의 대기권 위에 앉아 계시는 이, 그의 앞에서 세상 주민은 메뚜기 같지 않느냐? 그는 이 하늘을 엷은 포목인 양 펴시고 사람 사는 천막인 양 쳐 놓으셨다.
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.
23 고위층 인사들을 없애 버리시고 위정자들을 그 자취도 남겨 두지 아니하신다.
He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing.
24 나무를 심기가 무섭게, 씨를 뿌리기가 무섭게, 그루가 땅에 뿌리를 박기가 무섭게, 하나님께서 입김을 부시니 그것들은 말라 버리고 불어 오는 거센 바람에 검불처럼 날려 가고 만다.
No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff.
25 "내가 누구의 모습이라도 닮았다는 말이냐? 내가 누구와 같다는 말이냐?" 거룩하신 이께서 말씀하신다. "To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?" says the Holy One.
26 눈을 들어 하늘을 쳐다보아라. 누가 저 별들을 창조하였느냐? 그 군대를 불러 내시어 하나하나 이름을 불러 점호하시는 이는 그분이시다. 힘이 세고 기력이 장사이신 그분의 부르심에 누가 빠질 수 있으랴?  Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
27 야곱아, 네가 어찌 이런 말을 하느냐? 이스라엘아, 네가 어찌 이런 주장을 펴느냐? "야훼께서는 나의 고생길 같은 것은 관심도 하지 않으신다. 하나님께서는 내 권리 따위, 알은 체도 않으신다."
Why do you say, O Jacob, and complain, O Israel, "My way is hidden from the LORD; my cause is disregarded by my God"?
28 너희는 모르느냐? 듣지 못하였느냐? 야훼께서는 영원하신 하나님, 땅의 끝까지 창조하신 분이시다. 힘이 솟구쳐 피곤을 모르시고, 슬기가 무궁하신 분이시다.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom.
29 힘이 빠진 사람에게 힘을 주시고 기진한 사람에게 기력을 주시는 분이시다.
He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.
30 청년들도 힘이 빠져 허덕이겠고 장정들도 비틀거리겠지만
Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall;
31 야훼를 믿고 바라는 사람은 새 힘이 솟아나리라. 날개 쳐 솟아오르는 독수리처럼 아무리 뛰어도 고단하지 아니하고 아무리 걸어도 지치지 아니하리라.
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.


시편 147:1-11
1 할렐루야, 야훼를 찬양하여라. 그 노래 얼마나 좋으냐. 우리 하나님, 그 찬미 얼마나 부드러우냐.
Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!
2 예루살렘을 세우신 분, 야훼, 흩어졌던 이스라엘을 모아 들이시는 분,
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exiles of Israel.
3 상처 입은 마음을 고치시고 터진 상처를 싸매 주시는 분,
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
4 별들의 수효를 헤아리시고 낱낱이 이름을 붙여 주시는 분,
He determines the number of the stars and calls them each by name.
5 전능하신 우리의 주님 얼마나 크시냐. 그의 슬기 형용할 길 없어라.
Great is our Lord and mighty in power; his understanding has no limit.
6 야훼, 낮은 자는 들어 올리시고 악인들은 땅에까지 낮추신다.
The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.
7 야훼께 감사노래 불러라. 수금 타며 우리 하나님 찬미하여라.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make music to our God on the harp.
8 구름으로 하늘덮어 땅에 비를 내리시고, 이 산에도 풀, 저 산에도 풀, 사람 먹을 곡식 나게 하시며,
He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills.
9 짐승들과 울어대는 까마귀 새끼에게 먹이를 마련하시는 분,
He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.
10 힘센 말을 기뻐하지 않으시고 힘 좋은 장정의 다리도 반기지 않으신다.
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man;
11 당신 두려운 줄 아는 사람, 당신 사랑 믿는 사람, 그들만을 반기신다.
the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.

1고린도 9:16-23
16 내가 복음을 전한다 해서 그것이 나에게 자랑거리가 될 수는 없습니다. 그것은 내가 마땅히 해야 할 일이기 때문입니다. 만일 내가 복음을 전하지 않는다면 나에게 화가 미칠 것입니다.
Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach. Woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!
17 만일 내가 내 자유로 이 일을 택해서 하고 있다면 응당 보수를 바랄 수 있을 것입니다. 그러나 사실은 내 자유로 택한 것이 아니라 하나님께서 그 일을 내 직무로 맡겨 주신 것입니다. If I preach voluntarily, I have a reward; if not voluntarily, I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.
18 그러니 나에게 무슨 보수가 있겠습니까? 보수가 있다면 그것은 내가 복음을 전하는 사람으로서 응당 받을 수 있는 것을 요구하지 않고 복음을 거저 전할 수 있다는 사실입니다.
What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make use of my rights in preaching it.
19 나는 어느 누구에게도 매여 있지 않은 자유인이지만 되도록 많은 사람을 얻으려고 스스로 모든 사람의 종이 되었습니다. Though I am free and belong to no man, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible.
20 내가 유다인을 대할 때에는 그들을 얻으려고 유다인처럼 되었고 율법의 지배를 받는 사람을 대할 때에는 나 자신은 율법의 지배를 받지 않으면서도 그들을 얻으려고 율법의 지배를 받는 사람처럼 되었습니다. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law.
21 나는 그리스도의 법의 지배를 받고 있으니 실상은 하나님의 율법을 떠난 사람이 아니지만 율법이 없는 사람들을 대할 때에는 그들을 얻으려고 율법이 없는 사람처럼 되었습니다.
To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God's law but am under Christ's law), so as to win those not having the law.
22 그리고 내가 믿음이 약한 사람들을 대할 때에는 그들을 얻으려고 약한 사람이 되었습니다. 이와 같이 내가 어떤 사람을 대하든지 그들처럼 된 것은 어떻게 해서든지 그들 중에서 다만 몇 사람이라도 구원하려고 한 것입니다. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.
23 나는 복음을 전하기 위해서는 무슨 일이라도 하고 있습니다. 그리하여 그들과 다 같이 복음의 축복을 나누려는 것입니다.
I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

마르코복음 1:29-39
29 얼마 뒤에 예수께서 회당에서 나와 야고보와 요한과 함께 시몬과 안드레아의 집에 들어 가셨다.
As soon as they left the synagogue, they went with James and John to the home of Simon and Andrew.
30 때마침 시몬의 장모가 열병으로 누워 있었는데 사람들이 그 사정을 예수께 알렸다.
Simon's mother-in-law was in bed with a fever, and they told Jesus about her.
31 예수께서 그 부인 곁으로 가서 손을 잡아 일으키시자 열이 내리고 부인은 그들의 시중을 들었다.
So he went to her, took her hand and helped her up. The fever left her and she began to wait on them.
32 해가 지고 날이 저물었을 때에 사람들이 병자와 마귀들린 사람들을 모두 예수께 데려 왔으며
That evening after sunset the people brought to Jesus all the sick and demon-possessed.
33 온 동네 사람들이 문 앞에 모여들었다. The whole town gathered at the door,
34 예수께서는 온갖 병자들을 고쳐 주시고 많은 마귀를 쫓아내시며 자기 일을 입밖에 내지 말라고 당부하셨다. 마귀들은 예수가 누구신지를 알고 있었기 때문이다.
and Jesus healed many who had various diseases. He also drove out many demons, but he would not let the demons speak because they knew who he was.
35 다음 날 새벽 예수께서는 먼동이 트기 전에 일어나 외딴 곳으로 가시어 기도하고 계셨다.
Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.
36 그 때 시몬의 일행이 예수를 찾아 다니다가 Simon and his companions went to look for him,
37 만나서 "모두들 선생님을 찾고 있습니다" 하고 말하였다.
and when they found him, they exclaimed: "Everyone is looking for you!"
38 예수께서는 그들에게 "이 근방 다음 동네에도 가자. 거기에서도 전도해야 한다. 나는 이 일을 하러 왔다" 하고 말씀하셨다. Jesus replied, "Let us go somewhere else--to the nearby villages--so I can preach there also. That is why I have come."
39 이렇게 갈릴래아 지방을 두루 찾아 여러 회당에서 전도하시며 마귀를 쫓아내셨다.
So he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.
