시편 18:31-36, 49-50
31 하나님은 야훼뿐, 바위가 되실 이는 우리 하나님,
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?
32 나에게 힘을 입혀 주시어 나무랄 데 없이 살게 해 주셨다.
It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.
33 나의 발을 암사슴처럼 빠르게 하시어 산등성이 위에 서게 해 주셨다.
He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights.
34 싸움에 이기라고 솜씨 길러 주시고 구리활을 당기라고 내 팔을 익혀 주셨다.
He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze.
35 구원의 방패를 이 손에 들려 주시고 오른손으로 붙드시며 도와 주셨다.
You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.
36 무릎 떨리는 일 없이 활개를 치게 해 주셨다.
You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn.
49 그러하오니, 야훼여! 그 고마움을 어찌 만민에게 알리지 아니하고당신의 이름을 노래하지 않으리이까?
Therefore I will praise you among the nations, O LORD; I will sing praises to your name.
50 당신께서는 손수 기름부어 세우신 왕에게 큰 승리를 안겨 주시고 이 다윗과 다윗의 후손에게 길이길이 한결같은 사랑을 베푸시옵니다.
He gives his king great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed, to David and his descendants forever.

마르코복음 6:14-29
14 예수의 이름이 널리 알려져 마침내 그 소문이 헤로데왕의 귀에 들어 갔다. 어떤 사람들은 "그에게서 그런 기적의 힘이 나타나는 것을 보면 죽은 세례자 요한이 다시 살아난 것이 틀림없다" 고 말하는가 하면
King Herod heard about this, for Jesus' name had become well known. Some were saying, "John the Baptist has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him."
15 더러는 엘리야라고도 하고, 또 더러는 옛 예언자들과 같은 예언자라고도 하였다.
Others said, "He is Elijah." And still others claimed, "He is a prophet, like one of the prophets of long ago."
16 그러나 예수의 소문을 들은 헤로데왕은 "바로 요한이다. 내가 목을 벤 요한이 다시 살아난 것이다" 하고 말하였다.
But when Herod heard this, he said, "John, the man I beheaded, has been raised from the dead!"
17 이 헤로데는 일찍이 사람을 시켜 요한을 잡아 결박하여 옥에 가둔일이 있었다. 그것은 헤로데가 동생 필립보의 아내 헤로디아와 결혼하였다고 해서
For Herod himself had given orders to have John arrested, and he had him bound and put in prison. He did this because of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife, whom he had married.
18 요한이 헤로데에게 "동생의 아내를 데리고 사는 것은 옳지 않습니다" 하고 누차 간하였기 때문이었다. For John had been saying to Herod, "It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife."
19 그래서 헤로디아는 요한에게 원한을 품고 그를 죽이려고 하였으나 뜻을 이루지 못하였다.
So Herodias nursed a grudge against John and wanted to kill him. But she was not able to,
20 그것은 헤로데가 요한을 의롭고 거룩한 사람으로 알고 그를 두려워하여 보호해 주었을 뿐만 아니라 그가 간할 때마다 속으로는 몹시 괴로와하면서도 그것을 기꺼이 들어 왔기 때문이다.
because Herod feared John and protected him, knowing him to be a righteous and holy man. When Herod heard John, he was greatly puzzled; yet he liked to listen to him.
21 그런데 마침 헤로디아에게 좋은 기회가 왔다. 헤로데왕이 생일을 맞아 고관들과 무관들과 갈릴래아의 요인들을 청하여 잔치를 베풀었는데 Finally the opportune time came. On his birthday Herod gave a banquet for his high officials and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee.
22 그 자리에 헤로디아의 딸이 나와서 춤을 추어 헤로데와 그의 손님들을 매우 기쁘게 해 주었다. 그러자 왕은 소녀에게 "네 소원을 말해 보아라. 무엇이든지 들어 주마" 하고는
When the daughter of Herodias came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his dinner guests. The king said to the girl, "Ask me for anything you want, and I'll give it to you."
23 "네가 청하는 것이면 무엇이든지 주겠다. 내 왕국의 반이라도 주겠다" 하고 맹세하였던 것이다.
And he promised her with an oath, "Whatever you ask I will give you, up to half my kingdom."
24 소녀가 나가서 제 어미에게 "무엇을 청할까요?" 하고 의논하자 어미는 "세례자 요한의 머리를 달라고 하여라" 하고 시켰다. She went out and said to her mother, "What shall I ask for?" "The head of John the Baptist," she answered.
25 그러자 소녀는 급히 왕에게 돌아 와 "지금 곧 세례자 요한의 머리를 쟁반에 담아서 가져다 주십시오" 하고 청하였다. At once the girl hurried in to the king with the request: "I want you to give me right now the head of John the Baptist on a platter."
26 왕은 마음이 몹시 괴로왔지만 이미 맹세한 바도 있고 또 손님들이 보는 앞이어서 그 청을 거절할 수가 없었다. The king was greatly distressed, but because of his oaths and his dinner guests, he did not want to refuse her.
27 그래서 왕은 곧 경비병 하나를 보내며 요한의 목을 베어 오라고 명령하였다. 경비병이 감옥으로 가서 요한의 목을 베어 So he immediately sent an executioner with orders to bring John's head. The man went, beheaded John in the prison,
28 쟁반에 담아다가 소녀에게 건네자 소녀는 다시 그것을 제 어미에게 갖다 주었다.
and brought back his head on a platter. He presented it to the girl, and she gave it to her mother.
29 그 뒤 소식을 들은 요한의 제자들이 와서 그 시체를 거두어다가 장사를 지냈다.
On hearing of this, John's disciples came and took his body and laid it in a tomb.

집회서 47:2-11

시편 18장 35,36절은 올 한해 제게 주신 약속의 말씀입니다. 믿음안에서 승리하는 한해 되리라 믿고 죄인인 나를 구원하시고 연약한 저를 들어 사용하시는 주님께 감사와 찬양을 올려드립니다.

"구원의 방패를 이 손에 들려 주시고 오른손으로 붙드시며 도와 주셨다.
You give me your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains me; you stoop down to make me great.
무릎 떨리는 일 없이 활개를 치게 해 주셨다.
You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn"
