요한복음 1:1-14
1 한 처음, 천지가 창조되기 전부터 말씀이 계셨다. 말씀은 하나님과 함께 계셨고 하나님과 똑같은 분이셨다. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 말씀은 한 처음 천지가 창조되기 전부터 하나님과 함께 계셨다.
He was with God in the beginning.
3 모든 것은 말씀을 통하여 생겨났고 이 말씀 없이 생겨난 것은 하나도 없다. 생겨난 모든 것이
Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
4 그에게서 생명을 얻었으며 그 생명은 사람들의 빛이었다.
In him was life, and that life was the light of men.
5 그 빛이 어둠속에서 비치고 있다. 그러나 어둠이 빛을 이겨 본 적이 없다.
The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
6 하나님께서 보내신 사람이 있었는데 그의 이름은 요한이었다.
There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.
7 그는 그 빛을 증언하러 왔다. 모든 사람으로 하여금 자기 증언을 듣고 믿게 하려고 온 것이다. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.
8 그는 빛이 아니라 다만 그 빛을 증언하러 왔을 따름이다.
He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
9 말씀이 곧 참 빛이었다. 그 빛이 이 세상에 와서 모든 사람을 비추고 있었다.
The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
10 말씀이 세상에 계셨고 세상이 이 말씀을 통하여 생겨났는데도 세상은 그분을 알아 보지 못하였다.
He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
11 그분이 자기 나라에 오셨지만 백성들은 그분을 맞아 주지 않았다.
He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
12 그러나 그분을 맞아 들이고 믿는 사람들에게는 하나님의 자녀가 되는 특권을 주셨다. Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--
13 그들은 혈육으로나 육정으로나 사람의 욕망으로 난 것이 아니라 하나님에게서 난 것이다.
children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
14 말씀이 사람이 되셔서 우리와 함께 계셨는데 우리는 그분의 영광을 보았다. 그것은 외아들이 아버지에게서 받은 영광이었다. 그분에게는 은총과 진리가 충만하였다.
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
