사도행전 7:51-8:1
51 이교도의 마음과 귀를 가진 이 완고한 사람들이여, 당신들은 당신네 조상들처럼 언제나 성령을 거역하고 있습니다. "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
52 당신들의 조상들이 박해하지 않은 예언자가 한 사람이나 있었습니까? 그들은 의로운 분이 오시리라고 예언한 사람들을 죽였지만 이제 당신들은 바로 그분을 배반하고 죽였습니다.
Was there ever a prophet your fathers did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him--
53 당신들은 천사들에게서 하나님의 율법을 받고도 그 규례를 지키지 않았습니다."
you who have received the law that was put into effect through angels but have not obeyed it."
54 의회원들은 스테파노의 말을 듣고 화가 치밀어 올라 이를 갈았다.
When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him.
55 이 때 스테파노가 성령이 충만하여 하늘을 우러러 보니 하나님의 영광과 하나님 오른편에 서 계신 예수님이 보였다. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 그래서 그는 "아, 하늘이 열려 있고 하나님 오른편에 사람의 아들이 서 계신 것이 보입니다" 하고 외쳤다.
"Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
57 그러자 사람들은 크게 소리를 지르며 귀를 막았다. 그리고 스테파노에게 한꺼번에 달려들어
At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him,
58 성 밖으로 끌어내고는 돌로 치기 시작하였다. 그 거짓 증인들은 겉옷을 벗어 사울이라는 젊은이에게 맡겼다. dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 사람들이 돌로 칠 때에 스테파노는 "주 예수님, 제 영혼을 받아 주십시오" 하고 부르짖었다.
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
60 그리고 무릎을 꿇고 큰 소리로 "주님, 이 죄를 저 사람들에게 지우지 말아 주십시오" 하고 외쳤다. 스테파노는 이 말을 남기고 눈을 감았다. Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.
8 : 1 사울은 스테파노를 죽이는 일에 찬동하고 있었다. 그 날부터 예루살렘 교회는 심한 박해를 받기 시작하였다. 그래서 모든 신도들은 유다와 사마리아 여러 지방으로 뿔뿔이 흩어지고 사도들만 남게 되었다.
And Saul was there, giving approval to his death. On that day a great persecution broke out against the church at Jerusalem, and all except the apostles were scattered throughout Judea and Samaria.

시편 31:1-5, 16
1 야훼여, 당신께 이 몸 피하오니 다시는 욕보는 일 없게 하소서. 옳게 판정하시는 하나님이여, 나를 구해 주소서.
For the director of music. A psalm of David. In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.
2 귀 기울여 들어 주시고, 빨리 건져주소서. 이 몸 피할 바위가 되시고 성채 되시어 나를 보호하소서. Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
3 당신은 정녕 나의 바위, 나의 성채이시오니 야훼 그 이름의 힘으로 나를 이끌어 데려 가소서.
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.
4 당신은 나의 은신처시오니 나를 잡으려고 쳐 놓은 그물에서 나를 건져 주소서.
Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.
5 진실하신 하나님, 야훼여, 이 목숨 당신 손에 맡기오니 건져 주소서.
Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.
16 나는 당신의 종이오니 웃는 얼굴을 보여 주소서. 한결같은 사랑으로 이 몸을 구하소서.
Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.

요한복음 6:30-35
30 그들은 다시 "무슨 기적을 보여 우리로 하여금 믿게 하시겠습니까? So they asked him, "What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do?
31 '그는 하늘에서 빵을 내려다가 그들을 먹이셨다' 는 성경 말씀대로 우리 조상들은 광야에서 만나를 먹었습니다." 하고 말했다. Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: 'He gave them bread from heaven to eat.'"
32 예수께서는 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "정말 잘 들어 두어라. 하늘에서 너희에게 진정한 빵을 내려 주시는 분은 내 아버지이시다.  Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 하나님께서 주시는 빵은 하늘에서 내려오는 것이며 세상에 생명을 준다."
For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."
34 이 말씀을 듣고 그들이 "선생님, 그 빵을 항상 저희에게 주십시오" 하자 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "Sir," they said, "from now on give us this bread."
35 "내가 바로 생명의 빵이다. 나에게 오는 사람은 결코 배고프지 않고 나를 믿는 사람은 결코 목마르지 않을 것이다. Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.
