2005년 2월 23일 성서말씀 (폴리갑 주교 순교자)

예레미야 18:18-20
18 "그 말을 듣고 이 백성은 수군거립니다. '예레미야를 없애야겠는데 무슨 좋은 계책이 없을까? 이 사람이 없어도 법을 가르쳐 줄 사제가 있고 정책을 세울 현자가 있고 하나님의 말씀을 들려 줄 예언자가 있다. 그러니 이자를 그가 한 말로 때려잡자. 이자의 말마디마다 조심하여 듣자' 고 합니다.
They said, "Come, let's make plans against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest will not be lost, nor will counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophets. So come, let's attack him with our tongues and pay no attention to anything he says."
19 야훼여, 제 말을 들어 주십시오. 원수들이 고발하는 저 소리를 들어 보십시오.
Listen to me, O LORD; hear what my accusers are saying!
20 이런 배은망덕이 어디 있습니까? 이 목숨을 끓으려고 함정을 팝니다. 제가 당신 앞에 지켜 서서, 이 백성을 잘 되게 하여 주십사고 아뢰며 분노를 거두어 주십사고 아뢰던 일을 잊지 마십시오.
Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember that I stood before you and spoke in their behalf to turn your wrath away from them.

시편 31:4-5, 14-18 (For the director of music. A psalm of David.)
(1 야훼여, 당신께 이 몸 피하오니 다시는 욕보는 일 없게 하소서. 옳게 판정하시는 하나님이여, 나를 구해 주소서.  In you, O LORD, I have taken refuge; let me never be put to shame; deliver me in your righteousness.
2 귀 기울여 들어주시고, 빨리 건져 주소서. 이 몸 피할 바위가 되시고 성채 되시어 나를 보호하소서.
Turn your ear to me, come quickly to my rescue; be my rock of refuge, a strong fortress to save me.
3 당신은 정녕 나의 바위, 나의 성채이시오니 야훼 그 이름의 힘으로 나를 이끌어 데려 가소서.
Since you are my rock and my fortress, for the sake of your name lead and guide me.)
4 당신은 나의 은신처시오니 나를 잡으려고 쳐 놓은 그물에서 나를 건져 주소서.
Free me from the trap that is set for me, for you are my refuge.
5 진실하신 하나님, 야훼여, 이 목숨 당신 손에 맡기오니 건져 주소서.
Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth.
14 야훼여, 나는 당신만을 믿사옵니다. 당신만이 내 하나님이시라 고백하며
But I trust in you, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."
15 나의 앞날을 당신의 손에 맡기오니, 악을 쓰는 원수들의 손에서 이 몸을 건져 주소서.
My times are in your hands; deliver me from my enemies and from those who pursue me.
16 나는 당신의 종이오니 웃는 얼굴을 보여 주소서. 한결같은 사랑으로 이 몸을 구하소서.
Let your face shine on your servant; save me in your unfailing love.
17 야훼여, 당신을 부르는 나에게는 부끄러움을 주지 마시고 저 악당들을 부끄럽게 하시어 땅 속에서 잠잠케 하소서. Let me not be put to shame, O LORD, for I have cried out to you; but let the wicked be put to shame and lie silent in the grave.
18 거만하여 업신여기며 무죄한 사람을 거슬러 함부로 말하는 저 거짓말장이들의 입을 틀어막으소서.
Let their lying lips be silenced, for with pride and contempt they speak arrogantly against the righteous.


마태복음 20:17-28
17 예수께서 예루살렘으로 올라가시는 도중에 열 두 제자를 가까이 불러 조용히 말씀하셨다.
Now as Jesus was going up to Jerusalem, he took the twelve disciples aside and said to them,
18 "우리는 지금 예루살렘으로 올라가고 있다. 거기에서 사람의 아들은 대사제들과 율법학자들의 손에 넘어 가 사형 선고를 받을 것이다.
"We are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be betrayed to the chief priests and the teachers of the law. They will condemn him to death
19 그리고 이방인들의 손에 넘어 가 조롱과 채찍질을 당하며 십자가에 달려 죽었다가 사흘만에 다시 살아나게 될 것이다." and will turn him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. On the third day he will be raised to life!"
20 그 때에 제베대오의 두 아들이 어머니와 함께 예수께 왔는데 그 어머니는 무엇인가를 청할 양으로 엎드려 절을 하였다. Then the mother of Zebedee's sons came to Jesus with her sons and, kneeling down, asked a favor of him.
21 예수께서 그 부인에게 "원하는 것이 무엇이냐?" 하고 물으시자 그 부인은 "주님의 나라가 서면 저의 이 두 아들을 하나는 주님의 오른편에, 하나는 왼편에 앉게 해 주십시오" 하고 부탁하였다.
"What is it you want?" he asked. She said, "Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom."
22 그래서 예수께서 그 형제들에게 "너희가 청하는 것이 무엇인지나 알고 있느냐? 내가 마시게 될 잔을 너희도 마실 수 있느냐?" 하고 물으셨다. 그들이 "마실 수 있습니다" 하고 대답하자
"You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said to them. "Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?" "We can," they answered.
23 예수께서는 다시 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "너희도 내 잔을 마시게 될 것이다. 그러나 내 오른편과 내 왼편 자리에 앉는 특권은 내가 주는 것이 아니다. 그 자리에 앉을 사람들은 내 아버지께서 미리 정해 놓으셨다."
Jesus said to them, "You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father."
24 이 말을 듣고 있던 다른 열 제자가 그 형제를 보고 화를 냈다.
When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers.
25 예수께서는 그들을 가까이 불러 놓고 "너희도 알다시피 세상에서는 통치자들이 백성을 강제로 지배하고 높은 사람들이 백성을 권력으로 내리누른다.
Jesus called them together and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them.
26 그러나 너희는 그렇게 해서는 안 된다. 너희 사이에서 높은 사람이 되고자 하는 사람은 남을 섬기는 사람이 되어야 하고
Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,
27 으뜸이 되고자 하는 사람은 종이 되어야 한다.
and whoever wants to be first must be your slave--
28 사실은 사람의 아들도 섬김을 받으러 온 것이 아니라 섬기러 왔고 많은 사람을 위하여 목숨을 바쳐 몸값을 치르러 온 것이다" 하셨다.  just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."


오늘 하루도 진정 낮은 자의 위치에서 섬기는 삶을 살아갈 수 있기를 기도합니다.
