이사야 60:1-6
1 일어나 비추어라. 너의 빛이 왔다. 야훼의 영광이 너를 비춘다.
"Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 온 땅이 아직 어둠에 덮여, 민족들은 암흑에 싸여 있는데 야훼께서 너만은 비추신다. 네 위에서만은 그 영광을 나타내신다. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you.
3 민족들이 너의 빛을 보고 모여들며 제왕들이 솟아오르는 너의 광채에 끌려오는구나.
Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4 머리를 들고 사방을 둘러보아라. 모두 너에게 모여 오고 있지 않느냐? 너의 아들들이 먼 데서 오고, 너의 딸들도 품에 안겨 온다. "Lift up your eyes and look about you: All assemble and come to you; your sons come from afar, and your daughters are carried on the arm.
5 이것을 보는 네 얼굴에 웃음의 꽃이 피리라. 너의 가슴은 벅차 올라 부풀리라. 바다의 보물이 너에게로 흘러 오고 뭇 민족의 재물이 너에게로 밀려오리라.
Then you will look and be radiant, your heart will throb and swell with joy; the wealth on the seas will be brought to you, to you the riches of the nations will come.
6 큰 낙타 떼가 너의 땅을 뒤덮고 미디안과 에바의 낙타들이 우글거리리라. 사람들이 스바에서 찾아 오리라. 금과 향료를 싣고야훼를 높이 찬양하며 찾아 오리라.
Herds of camels will cover your land, young camels of Midian and Ephah. And all from Sheba will come, bearing gold and incense and proclaiming the praise of the LORD.

시편 72:(1-9), 10-15
1 하나님, 임금에게 올바른 통치력을 주시고 임금의 아들에게 정직한 마음을 주소서.
Of Solomon. Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.
2 당신의 백성에게 공정한 판결을 내리고 약한 자의 권리를 세워 주게 하소서.
He will judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice.
3 높은 산들아, 너희 언덕들아, 백성에게 평화와 정의를 안겨 주어라.
The mountains will bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 백성을 억압하는 자들을 쳐부수고 약한 자들의 권리를 세워 주며 빈민들을 구하게 하소서.
He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor.
5 해와 달이 다 닳도록 그의 왕조 오래오래 만세를 누리게 하소서.
He will endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.
6 풀밭에 내리는 단비처럼 땅에 쏟아지는 소나기처럼 그의 은덕 만인에게 내리리니
He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.
7 정의가 꽃피는 그의 날에 저 달이 다 닳도록 평화 넘치리라.
In his days the righteous will flourish; prosperity will abound till the moon is no more.
8 바다에서 바다에 이르기까지 이 강에서 저 땅 끝에 이르기까지 다스리리니,
He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
9 큰 괴수가 그 앞에 무릎을 꿇고 원수들은 와서 땅바닥을 핥을 것이며
The desert tribes will bow before him and his enemies will lick the dust.
10 다르싯과 섬나라 임금들이 조공을 바치고 세바와 스바의 왕들이 예물을 바치며
The kings of Tarshish and of distant shores will bring tribute to him; the kings of Sheba and Seba will present him gifts.
11 만왕이 다 그 앞에 엎드리고 만백성이 그를 섬기게 되리라.
All kings will bow down to him and all nations will serve him.
12 그는 하소연하는 빈민을 건져 주고 도움 받을 데 없는 약자를 구해주며
For he will deliver the needy who cry out, the afflicted who have no one to help.
13 약하고 가난한 자들을 불쌍히 여기고 가난에 시든 자들을 살려 주며
He will take pity on the weak and the needy and save the needy from death.
14 억울한 자의 피를 소중히 여겨 억압과 폭력에서 그 목숨 건져 주리이다.
He will rescue them from oppression and violence, for precious is their blood in his sight.
15 그리하여 만세나 살게 하시고 세바의 황금을 예물로 받게 하소서 .그를 위한 기도소리 그치지 않고, 그에게 복을 비는 소리 언제나 들리게 하소서. Long may he live! May gold from Sheba be given him. May people ever pray for him and bless him all day long.

에페소서 3:1-12
1 그러므로 이방인 여러분들을 위하여 그리스도 예수의 포로가 된 나 바울로는 하나님께 기도 드립니다.  For this reason I, Paul, the prisoner of Christ Jesus for the sake of you Gentiles--
2 하나님께서 나에게 은총을 베풀어 여러분의 일꾼으로 삼으신 것을 여러분도 잘 알고 있습니다.
Surely you have heard about the administration of God's grace that was given to me for you,
3 하나님께서는 당신의 심오한 계획을 나에게 계시해 주셨습니다. 이에 대해서는 내가 앞서 간단히 적은 바 있으므로
that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly.
4 그것을 읽으면 여러분은 내가 그리스도에 관한 심오한 계획을 이해하고 있다는 것을 알 수 있을 것입니다. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ,
5 지금은 하나님께서 성령의 힘을 빌어 그 심오한 계획을 당신의 거룩한 사도들과 예언하는 사람들에게 나타내 보이셨지만 전에는 지금처럼 인간에게 알려 주시지 않았었습니다.
which was not made known to men in other generations as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to God's holy apostles and prophets.
6 그 심오한 계획이란 이방인들도 복음을 듣고 그리스도 예수와 함께 살면서 유다인들과 함께 하나님의 축복을 받고 한 몸의 지체가 되어 하나님께서 약속하신 것을 함께 받는 사람들이 된다는 것입니다. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.
7 나는 하나님께서 거저 주신 은총을 받고 내 속에서 활동하시는 하나님의 능력에 힘입어 이 복음을 전하는 일꾼이 되었습니다. I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power.
8 나는 모든 성도들 중에서 가장 보잘 것 없는 사람입니다. 아니 그보다도 못한 사람입니다. 그런데도 하나님께서는 나에게 이 은총을 주셔서 헤아릴 수 없이 풍요하신 그리스도에 관한 복음을 이방인들에게 전하게 하셨고 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
9 또 만물의 창조주이신 하나님께서 과거에 감추고 계시던 심오한 계획을 어떻게 실현하시는지를 모든 사람에게 분명히 알려 주게 하셨습니다. and to make plain to everyone the administration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.
10 이렇게 되어 결국 하늘에 있는 권세의 천신들과 세력의 천신들까지도 교회를 통하여 하나님의 무궁 무궁진한 지혜를 알게 되는 것입니다. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms,
11 이 모든 것은 우리 주 그리스도 예수를 내세워 이루시려고 작정하신 하나님의 영원한 계획입니다.
according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.
12 우리는 그리스도를 믿음으로써 그분과 함께 살게 되어 확신을 가지고 서슴지 않고 하나님께 나아갈 수가 있습니다.
In him and through faith in him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.

마태오복음 2:1-12
1 예수께서 헤로데왕 때에 유다 베들레헴에서 나셨는데 그 때에 동방에서 박사들이 예루살렘에 와서
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem
2 "유다인의 왕으로 나신 분이 어디 계십니까? 우리는 동방에서 그분의 별을 보고 그분에게 경배하러 왔습니다" 하고 말하였다. and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
3 이 말을 듣고 헤로데왕이 당황한 것은 물론, 예루살렘이 온통 술렁거렸다.
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him.
4 왕은 백성의 대사제들과 율법학자들을 다 모아 놓고 그리스도께서 나실 곳이 어디냐고 물었다.
When he had called together all the people's chief priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born.
5 그들은 이렇게 대답하였다. "유다 베들레헴입니다. 예언서의 기록을 보면,
"In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is what the prophet has written:
6 '유다의 땅 베들레헴아, 너는 결코 유다의 땅에서 가장 작은 고을이 아니다. 내 백성의 목자가 될 영도자가 너에게서 나리라' 고 하였습니다."
"'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"
7 그 때에 헤로데가 동방에서 온 박사들을 몰래 불러 별이 나타난 때를 정확히 알아보고
Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.
8 그들을 베들레헴으로 보내면서 "가서 그 아기를 잘 찾아보시오. 나도 가서 경배할 터이니 찾거든 알려 주시오" 하고 부탁하였다. He sent them to Bethlehem and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship him."
9 왕의 부탁을 듣고 박사들은 길을 떠났다. 그 때 동방에서 본 그 별이 그들을 앞서 가다가 마침내 그 아기가 있는 곳 위에 이르러 멈추었다.
After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east went ahead of them until it stopped over the place where the child was.
10 이를 보고 그들은 대단히 기뻐하면서
When they saw the star, they were overjoyed.
11 그 집에 들어 가 어머니 마리아와 함께 있는 아기를 보고 엎드려 경배하였다. 그리고 보물 상자를 열어 황금과 유향과 몰약을 예물로 드렸다.
On coming to the house, they saw the child with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
12 박사들은 꿈에 헤로데에게로 돌아 가지 말라는 하나님의 지시를 받고 다른 길로 자기 나라에 돌아 갔다. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by another route.

+ 7 나는 하나님께서 거저 주신 은총을 받고 내 속에서 활동하시는 하나님의 능력에 힘입어 이 복음을 전하는 일꾼이 되었습니다. I became a servant of this gospel by the gift of God's grace given me through the working of his power.
8 나는 모든 성도들 중에서 가장 보잘 것 없는 사람입니다. 아니 그보다도 못한 사람입니다. 그런데도 하나님께서는 나에게 이 은총을 주셔서 헤아릴 수 없이 풍요하신 그리스도에 관한 복음을 이방인들에게 전하게 하셨고 Although I am less than the least of all God's people, this grace was given me: to preach to the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,
12 우리는 그리스도를 믿음으로써 그분과 함께 살게 되어 확신을 가지고 서슴지 않고 하나님께 나아갈 수가 있습니다.  (에페소서 3:7,8, 12)

오늘은 공현일 입니다. 동방박사의 증거가 우리의 증거가 되게 하시고 사도 바울의 고백이 나의 고백이 되게 하시어 어둠 속에 있는 이 민족과 열방에게 복음의 빛을 전하는 일꾼이 되게 하소서. Amen.
