역대하 24:20-22
20 여호야다의 아들 사제 즈가리야가 하나님의 영에 사로잡혀 백성들 앞에 나서서 말하였다. "하나님께서 말씀하신다. '어찌하여 너희는 야훼의 계명을 어기느냐? 그리하여 만사를 그르치느냐? 너희가 야훼를 버렸으니, 야훼도 너희를 버리리라.'
"Then the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah son of Jehoiada the priest. He stood before the people and said, "This is what God says: 'Why do you disobey the LORD'S commands? You will not prosper. Because you have forsaken the LORD, he has forsaken you.'"
21 그러자 사람들은 한 덩어리가 되어 왕명을 따라 그를 야훼의 성전마당에서 돌로 쳐죽였다.
But they plotted against him, and by order of the king they stoned him to death in the courtyard of the LORD'S temple.
22 요아스왕은 여호야다에게 입은 은덕을 저버리고 그의 아들을 죽였던 것이다. 즈가리야는 죽으면서 외쳤다. "야훼께서 굽어보시고 갚으시리라."
King Joash did not remember the kindness Zechariah's father Jehoiada had shown him but killed his son, who said as he lay dying, "May the LORD see this and call you to account."

시편 119:161-168
161 권세가들이 나를 까닭 없이 박해하오나 내 마음이 두려워하는 것은 당신의 말씀입니다.
Rulers persecute me without cause, but my heart trembles at your word.
162 전리품을 얻고서 좋아하듯이 당신의 말씀 듣는 것을 나는 기뻐합니다.
I rejoice in your promise like one who finds great spoil.
163 거짓은 내가 싫어하는 것, 나는 당신 법을 좋아하고 실행합니다.
I hate and abhor falsehood but I love your law.
164 당신의 옳은 판결, 찬송하오니 하루에도 일곱 번씩 찬양합니다.
Seven times a day I praise you for your righteous laws.
165 당신의 법을 사랑하는 이에게는 만사가 순조롭고 무엇 하나 꺼릴 것이 없사옵니다.
Great peace have they who love your law, and nothing can make them stumble.
166 야훼여, 당신의 계명을 내가 따랐사오니, 당신의 구원을 기다립니다.
I wait for your salvation, O LORD, and I follow your commands.
167 당신의 언약을 온전히 사랑하여 내 영혼이 그것을 지키리이다.
I obey your statutes, for I love them greatly.
168 나의 모든 행실을 보고 계시오니 당신 법령, 당신 언약을 지키리이다.
I obey your precepts and your statutes, for all my ways are known to you.

사도행전 7:51-60
51 이교도의 마음과 귀를 가진 이 완고한 사람들이여, 당신들은 당신네 조상들처럼 언제나 성령을 거역하고 있습니다. "You stiff-necked people, with uncircumcised hearts and ears! You are just like your fathers: You always resist the Holy Spirit!
52 당신들의 조상들이 박해하지 않은 예언자가 한 사람이나 있었습니까? 그들은 의로운 분이 오시리라고 예언한 사람들을 죽였지만 이제 당신들은 바로 그분을 배반하고 죽였습니다.
Was there ever a prophet your fathers did not persecute? They even killed those who predicted the coming of the Righteous One. And now you have betrayed and murdered him--
53 당신들은 천사들에게서 하나님의 율법을 받고도 그 규례를 지키지 않았습니다."
you who have received the law that was put into effect through angels but have not obeyed it."
54 의회원들은 스테파노의 말을 듣고 화가 치밀어 올라 이를 갈았다.
When they heard this, they were furious and gnashed their teeth at him.
55 이 때 스테파노가 성령이 충만하여 하늘을 우러러 보니 하나님의 영광과 하나님 오른편에 서 계신 예수님이 보였다. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 그래서 그는 "아, 하늘이 열려 있고 하나님 오른편에 사람의 아들이 서 계신 것이 보입니다" 하고 외쳤다. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
57 그러자 사람들은 크게 소리를 지르며 귀를 막았다. 그리고 스테파노에게 한꺼번에 달려들어
At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him,
58 성 밖으로 끌어내고는 돌로 치기 시작하였다. 그 거짓 증인들은 겉옷을 벗어 사울이라는 젊은이에게 맡겼다. dragged him out of the city and began to stone him. Meanwhile, the witnesses laid their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.
59 사람들이 돌로 칠 때에 스테파노는 "주 예수님, 제 영혼을 받아 주십시오" 하고 부르짖었다.
While they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit."
60 그리고 무릎을 꿇고 큰 소리로 "주님, 이 죄를 저 사람들에게 지우지 말아 주십시오" 하고 외쳤다. 스테파노는 이 말을 남기고 눈을 감았다. Then he fell on his knees and cried out, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." When he had said this, he fell asleep.55 이 때 스테파노가 성령이 충만하여 하늘을 우러러 보니 하나님의 영광과 하나님 오른편에 서 계신 예수님이 보였다. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 그래서 그는 "아, 하늘이 열려 있고 하나님 오른편에 사람의 아들이 서 계신 것이 보입니다" 하고 외쳤다. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."


마태복음 10:17-22
17 너희를 법정에 넘겨주고 회당에서 매질할 사람들이 있을 터인데 그들을 조심하여라.
"Be on your guard against men; they will hand you over to the local councils and flog you in their synagogues.
18 또 너희는 나 때문에 총독들과 왕들에게 끌려 가 재판을 받으며 그들과 이방인들 앞에서 나를 증언하게 될 것이다. On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.
19 그러나 잡혀갔을 때에 '무슨 말을 어떻게 할까?' 하고 미리 걱정하지 말아라. 때가 오면 너희가 해야 할 말을 일러 주실 것이다. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,
20 말하는 이는 너희가 아니라 너희 안에서 말씀하시는 아버지의 성령이시다.
for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
21 형제끼리 서로 잡아 넘겨 죽게 할 것이며, 아비도 또한 제 자식을 그렇게 하고 자식도 제 부모를 고발하여 죽게 할 것이다. "Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
22 그리고 너희는 나 때문에 모든 사람들에게 미움을 받을 것이다. 그러나 끝까지 참는 사람은 구원을 받을 것이다.
All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.


55 이 때 스테파노가 성령이 충만하여 하늘을 우러러 보니 하나님의 영광과 하나님 오른편에 서 계신 예수님이 보였다. But Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, looked up to heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God.
56 그래서 그는 "아, 하늘이 열려 있고 하나님 오른편에 사람의 아들이 서 계신 것이 보입니다" 하고 외쳤다. "Look," he said, "I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."
