창세기 49:2, 8-10
2 야곱의 아들들아 모여 와 들어라. 너희의 아비 이스라엘의 말을 들어라.
"Assemble and listen, sons of Jacob; listen to your father Israel.
8 유다, 너는 네 형제들의 찬양을 받으리라. 네 손은 원수들의 멱살을 잡겠고 네 아비의 자식들이 네 앞에 엎드리리라. "Judah, your brothers will praise you; your hand will be on the neck of your enemies; your father's sons will bow down to you.
9 유다는 사자새끼, 아들아, 너야말로 짐승을 덮쳐 뜯어먹고는 배를 깔고 엎드린 수사자라 할까?
You are a lion's cub, O Judah; you return from the prey, my son. Like a lion he crouches and lies down, like a lioness--who dares to rouse him?
10 왕의 지팡이가 유다를 떠나지 아니하리라. 지휘봉이 다리 사이에서 떠나지 아니하리라. 참으로 그 자리를 차지할 분이 와서 만백성이 그에게 순종하게 되리라.
The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler's staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs and the obedience of the nations is his.
시편 72:1-5, 18-19
1 하나님, 임금에게 올바른 통치력을 주시고 임금의 아들에게 정직한 마음을 주소서.
Of Solomon. Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.
2 당신의 백성에게 공정한 판결을 내리고 약한 자의 권리를 세워 주게 하소서.
He will judge your people in righteousness, your afflicted ones with justice.
3 높은 산들아, 너희 언덕들아, 백성에게 평화와 정의를 안겨 주어라.
The mountains will bring prosperity to the people, the hills the fruit of righteousness.
4 백성을 억압하는 자들을 쳐부수고 약한 자들의 권리를 세워 주며 빈민들을 구하게 하소서.
He will defend the afflicted among the people and save the children of the needy; he will crush the oppressor.
5 해와 달이 다 닳도록 그의 왕조 오래오래 만세를 누리게 하소서.
He will endure as long as the sun, as long as the moon, through all generations.
18 당신 홀로 놀라운 일 행하셨으니 이스라엘의 하나님, 야훼는 찬미받으소서.
Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.
19 영광스런 그 이름, 길이길이 찬미받으소서. 그 영광 온 땅에 가득히. 아멘, 아멘.
Praise be to his glorious name forever; may the whole earth be filled with his glory. Amen and Amen.
20 이새의 아들 다윗의 기도는 여기에서 끝난다.

Asa the father of Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat the father of Jehoram, Jehoram the father of Uzziah,
9 우찌야는 요담을, 요담은 아하즈를, 아하즈는 히즈키야를 낳았고
Uzziah the father of Jotham, Jotham the father of Ahaz, Ahaz the father of Hezekiah,
10 히즈키야는 므나쎄를, 므나쎄는 아모스를, 아모스는 요시아를 낳았고,
Hezekiah the father of Manasseh, Manasseh the father of Amon, Amon the father of Josiah,
11 이스라엘 민족이 바빌론으로 끌려 갈 무렵에 요시야는 여고니아와 그의 동생을 낳았다.
and Josiah the father of Jeconiah and his brothers at the time of the exile to Babylon.
12 바빌론으로 끌려 간 다음 여고니야는 스알디엘을 낳았고 스알디엘은 즈루빠벨을,
After the exile to Babylon: Jeconiah was the father of Shealtiel, Shealtiel the father of Zerubbabel,
13 즈루빠벨을 아비훗을, 아비훗은 엘리아킴을, 엘리아킴은 아졸을,
Zerubbabel the father of Abiud, Abiud the father of Eliakim, Eliakim the father of Azor,
14 아졸은 사독을, 사독은 아힘을, 아힘은 엘리훗을,
Azor the father of Zadok, Zadok the father of Akim, Akim the father of Eliud,
15 엘리훗은 엘르아잘을, 엘르아잘은 마딴을, 마딴은 야곱을 낳았으며
Eliud the father of Eleazar, Eleazar the father of Matthan, Matthan the father of Jacob,
16 야곱은 마리아의 남편 요셉을 낳았고 마리아에게서 예수가 나셨는데 이분을 그리스도라고 부른다.
and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.
17 그러므로 아브라함에서 다윗까지가 십 사 대이고, 다윗에서 바빌론으로 끌려 갈 때까지가 십 사 대이며 바빌론으로 끌려 간 다음 그리스도까지가 또한 십 사 대이다.
Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

예레미야 23:5-8
5 내가 다윗의 정통 왕손을 일으킨 그 날은 오고야 만다. 이는 내 말이라, 어김이 없다. 그는 현명한 왕으로서 세상에 올바른 정치를 펴리라.
"The days are coming," declares the LORD, "when I will raise up to David a righteous Branch, a King who will reign wisely and do what is just and right in the land.
6 그를 왕으로 모시고 유다와 이스라엘은 살 길이 열려 마음놓고 살게 되리라. '야훼 우리를 되살려 주시는 이' 라는 이름으로 그를 부르리라.
In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
7 그러므로 장차 이런 날이 올 것이다. 내가 똑똑히 일러둔다. 그 날이 오면 이스라엘 가문의 자손들은 맹세할 때에 자기들을 에집트에서 데려 내 온 야훼를 불러 맹세하지 않고
"So then, the days are coming," declares the LORD, "when people will no longer say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the Israelites up out of Egypt,'
8 저희 이스라엘 후손들이 쫓겨 가 있던 북녘 땅과 그 밖의 모든 나라에서 데려 온 이 야훼를 두고 맹세하게 될 것이다. 나는 이 백성을 고향으로 되돌아오게 하고야 말리라."
but they will say, 'As surely as the LORD lives, who brought the descendants of Israel up out of the land of the north and out of all the countries where he had banished them.' Then they will live in their own land."
시편 72:1, 6-8, 18-20
1 하나님, 임금에게 올바른 통치력을 주시고 임금의 아들에게 정직한 마음을 주소서.
Of Solomon. Endow the king with your justice, O God, the royal son with your righteousness.
6 풀밭에 내리는 단비처럼 땅에 쏟아지는 소나기처럼 그의 은덕 만인에게 내리리니
He will be like rain falling on a mown field, like showers watering the earth.
7 정의가 꽃피는 그의 날에 저 달이 다 닳도록 평화 넘치리라.
In his days the righteous will flourish; prosperity will abound till the moon is no more.
8 바다에서 바다에 이르기까지 이 강에서 저 땅 끝에 이르기까지 다스리리니,
He will rule from sea to sea and from the River to the ends of the earth.
18 당신 홀로 놀라운 일 행하셨으니 이스라엘의 하나님, 야훼는 찬미받으소서.
Praise be to the LORD God, the God of Israel, who alone does marvelous deeds.

마태 1:18-24
18 예수 그리스도께서 태어나신 경위는 이러하다. 예수의 어머니 마리아는 요셉과 약혼은 하고 같이 살기 전에 잉태한 것이 드러났다. 그 잉태는 성령으로 말미암은 것이었다.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.
19 마리아의 남편 요셉은 법대로 사는 사람이었고 또 마리아의 일을 세상에 드러낼 생각도 없었으므로 남모르게 파혼하기로 마음먹었다.
Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
20 요셉이 이런 생각을 하고 있을 무렵에 주의 천사가 꿈에 나타나서"다윗의 자손 요셉아, 두려워하지 말고 마리아를 아내로 맞아 들이어라. 그의 태중에 있는 아기는 성령으로 말미암은 것이다.
But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.
21 마리아가 아들을 낳을 터이니 그 이름을 예수라 하여라. 예수는 자기 백성을 죄에서 구원할 것이다" 하고 일러 주었다. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
22 이 모든 일로써 주께서 예언자를 시켜,
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:
23 "동정녀가 잉태하여 아들을 낳으리니 그 이름을 임마누엘이라 하리라" 하신 말씀이 그대로 이루어졌다. 임마누엘은 "하나님께서우리와함께 계시다" 는 뜻이다.
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"--which means, "God with us."
24 잠에서 깨어난 요셉은 주의 천사가 일러 준 대로 마리아를 아내로맞아 들였다.
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.
