이사야 43:8-13
8 겁내지 말라, 두려워 말라. 내가 오래 전부터 미리 들려주고 알려 주지 않았느냐? 너희가 나의 증인이다. 나밖에 다른 신이 또 있느냐? 과연 다른 바위는 없다. 나는 그런 것 모른다."
Do not tremble, do not be afraid. Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me? No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."
9 우상을 빚어 만드는 자들은 하나같이 바람잡이, 아무 덕을 끼칠 수 없는 것들을 소중히 여기는 바보들이다. 그렇게 눈이 멀어 멋도 모르고 우상을 섬기다가 결국 창피나 당하리라.
All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Those who would speak up for them are blind; they are ignorant, to their own shame.
10 수입을 바라지 않고 신상을 빚어내거나 우상을 부어 만들 자가 있겠느냐?
Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit him nothing?
11 우상과 짝하는 자들은 무안이나 당하리라. 우상을 만드는 것은 결국 인간, 하나도 빠지지 말고 출두하여라. 모두들 어이없이 창피를 당하리라.
He and his kind will be put to shame; craftsmen are nothing but men. Let them all come together and take their stand; they will be brought down to terror and infamy.
12 숯불에 달군 쇠를 망치로 두드려 모양을 만드는 대장장이를 보아라. 팔을 걷어붙이고 만드느라 시장하여 허기지고 물도 마시지 못하여 기진맥진했구나. The blacksmith takes a tool and works with it in the coals; he shapes an idol with hammers, he forges it with the might of his arm. He gets hungry and loses his strength; he drinks no water and grows faint.
13 목수는 줄을 늘이고 석필로 금을 그어 모양을 그린다. 끌질하고 걸음쇠로 선을 그어 가며 사람의 초상을 뜬다. 이렇게 잘난 사람의 얼굴 모습을 본떠 우상을 만들어 그것을 신전에 모신다.
The carpenter measures with a line and makes an outline with a marker; he roughs it out with chisels and marks it with compasses. He shapes it in the form of man, of man in all his glory, that it may dwell in a shrine.
시편 145:1-7(A psalm of praise. Of David)
1 나의 하나님, 나의 임금님, 내가 당신을 높이 받들며 언제까지나 당신 이름 찬양하오리이다.
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.
2 날이면 날마다 당신을 기리며 언제까지나 당신 이름 찬양하오리이다.
Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever.
3 "높으시어라, 야훼, 끝없이 찬미받으실 분, 그 높으심 측량할 길 없음이여."
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
4 당신의 업적 세세에 전해지고 찬란한 그 공적 대대손손 알려지리이다.
One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.
5 당신의 명성, 그 찬란함, 이룩하신 놀라운 일 전하고 또 전하리이다.
They will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty, and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
6 당신의 무서운 힘 사람들에게 알려질 것이며 나는 당신의 위대함을 이야기하리이다.
They will tell of the power of your awesome works, and I will proclaim your great deeds.
7 끝없이 어지신 일을 기억하며 사람들은 당신의 정의를 기뻐 외칠 것입니다.
They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.
사도행전 5:12-16
12 그 무렵 사도들은 백성들 앞에서 많은 기적과 놀라운 일들을 베풀었다. 모든 신도는 한 덩어리가 되어 솔로몬 행각에 모여 있었다. The apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders among the people. And all the believers used to meet together in Solomon's Colonnade.
13 그러나 다른 사람들은 신도들의 모임에 끼어 들 생각을 감히 하지 못하였다. 그러면서도 백성들은 그들을 칭찬하였으며 No one else dared join them, even though they were highly regarded by the people.
14 주를 믿는 남녀의 수효는 날로 늘어났다.
Nevertheless, more and more men and women believed in the Lord and were added to their number.
15 사람들은 심지어 병자들을 길거리에 메고 나가 들것이나 요에 눕혀 놓고 베드로가 지나갈 때 행여나 그 그림자만이라도 그 몇 사람에게 스쳐 갔으면 하였다.
As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.
16 예루살렘 근방에 있는 여러 동네에서도 많은 사람들이 병자들과 악령이 들어 고생하는 사람들을 데리고 몰려 왔는데 그들의 병도 모두 고쳐졌다.
Crowds gathered also from the towns around Jerusalem, bringing their sick and those tormented by evil spirits, and all of them were healed.
루가복음 22:24-30
24 제자들 사이에서 누구를 제일 높게 볼 것이냐는 문제로 옥신각신하는 것을 보시고
Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.
25 예수께서 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "이 세상의 왕들은 강제로 백성을 다스린다. 그리고 백성들에게 권력을 휘두르는 사람들은 백성의 은인으로 행세한다.
Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.
26 그러나 너희는 그래서는 안 된다. 오히려 너희 중에서 제일 높은 사람은 제일 낮은 사람처럼 처신해야 하고 지배하는 사람은 섬기는 사람처럼 처신해야 한다.
But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
27 식탁에 앉은 사람과 심부름하는 사람 중에 어느 편이 더 높은 사람이냐? 높은 사람은 식탁에 앉은 사람이 아니냐? 그러나 나는 심부름하는 사람으로 여기에 와 있다."
For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
28 "너희는 내가 온갖 시련을 겪는 동안 나와 함께 견디어 왔으니
You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
29 내 아버지께서 나에게 왕권을 주신 것처럼 나도 너희에게 왕권을 주겠다.
And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,
30 너희는 내 나라에서 내 식탁에 앉아 먹고 마시며 옥좌에 앉아 이스라엘의 열 두 지파를 심판하게 될 것이다." so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
