사도행전 17:22-34
22 바울로는 아레오파고 법정에 서서 이렇게 연설하였다. "아테네 시민 여러분, 내가 보기에 여러분은 여러 모로 강한 신앙심을 가지고 계십니다. Paul then stood up in the meeting of the Areopagus and said: "Men of Athens! I see that in every way you are very religious.
23 내가 아테네시를 돌아 다니며 여러분이 예배하는 곳을 살펴 보았더니 '알지 못하는 신에게' 라고 새겨진 제단까지 있었습니다. 여러분이 미처 알지 못한 채 예배해 온 그분을 이제 여러분에게 알려 드리겠습니다. For as I walked around and looked carefully at your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD. Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you.
24 그분은 이 세상과 그 안에 있는 모든 것을 만드신 하나님이십니다. 그분은 하늘과 땅의 주인이시므로 사람이 만든 신전에서는 살지 않으십니다. "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by hands.
25 또 하나님께서는 사람 손으로 채워 드려야 할 만큼 부족한 것이라곤 하나도 없으십니다. 하나님은 오히려 사람들에게 생명과 호흡과 모든 것을 주시는 분이십니다.
And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything, because he himself gives all men life and breath and everything else.
26 하나님께서는 한 조상에게서 모든 인류를 내시에 온 땅 위에서 살게 하시고 또 그들이 살아 갈 시대와 영토를 미리 정해 주셨습니다.
From one man he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live.
27 이리하여 사람들이 하나님을 더듬어 찾기만 하면 만날 수 있게 해주셨습니다. 사실 하나님께서는 누구에게나 가까이 계십니다. God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from each one of us.
28 우리는 그분 안에서 숨쉬고 움직이며 살아간다' 는 말도 있지 않습니까? 또 여러분의 어떤 시인은 '우리도 그의 자녀라' 고 말하지 않았습니까? 'For in him we live and move and have our being.' As some of your own poets have said, 'We are his offspring.'
29 하나님의 자녀인 우리는 하나님을, 사람의 기술이나 고안으로 금이나 은이나 돌을 가지고 만들어 낸 우상처럼 여겨서는 안 됩니다. "Therefore since we are God's offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone--an image made by man's design and skill.
30 하나님께서는 사람이 무지했던 때에는 눈을 감아 주셨지만 이제는 어디에 있는 사람에게나 다 회개할 것을 명령하십니다.
In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent.
31 과연 하나님께서는 당신이 택하신 분을 시켜 온 세상을 올바르게 심판하실 날을 정하셨고 또 그분을 죽은 자들 가운데서 다시 살리심으로써 모든 사람에게 그 증거를 보이셨습니다."
For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to all men by raising him from the dead."
32 죽은 자가 다시 살아난다는 말을 듣고 바울로를 비웃는 사람들이 있었는가 하면 훗날 다시 그 이야기를 듣겠다는 사람들도 있었다. When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, "We want to hear you again on this subject."
33 바울로가 법정에서 나오자  At that, Paul left the Council.
34 몇몇 사람이 바울로 편이 되어 예수를 믿게 되었다. 그 중에는 아레오파고 법정의 판사인 디오니시오를 비롯하여 다마리스라는 여자와 그 밖에도 몇 사람이 더 있었다.
A few men became followers of Paul and believed. Among them was Dionysius, a member of the Areopagus, also a woman named Damaris, and a number of others.
시편 148:1-2, 11-14
1 할렐루야, 하늘에서 야훼를 찬양하여라. 그 높은 데서 찬양하여라.
Praise the LORD. Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights above.
2 그의 천사들 모두 찬양하여라. 그의 군대를 모두 찬양하여라.
Praise him, all his angels, praise him, all his heavenly hosts.
11 세상 임금들과 모든 추장들도 고관들과 세상의 모든 재판관들도
kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth,
12 총각 처녀 할 것 없이 늙은이 어린이 모두 함께
young men and maidens, old men and children.
13 야훼의 이름을 찬양하여라. 그 이름, 그분 홀로 한없이 높으시고 땅 하늘 위에 그 위엄 떨치신다.
Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
14 당신 백성의 영광을 드높여 주셔서, 당신을 가까이 모신 이 백성,이스라엘 후손들, 당신을 믿는 모든 신도들에게 자랑이로다. He has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his saints, of Israel, the people close to his heart. Praise the LORD.


요한복음 16:12-15
12 "아직도 나는 할 말이 많지만 지금은 너희가 그 말을 알아 들을 수 없을 것이다.
"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear.
13 그러나 진리의 성령이 오시면 너희를 이끌어 진리를 온전히 깨닫게 하여 주실 것이다. 그분은 자기 생각대로 말씀하시지 않고 들은 대로 일러 주실 것이며 앞으로 다가 올 일들도 알려 주실 것이다.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
14 또 그분은 나에게서 들은 것을 너희에게 전하여 나를 영광스럽게 하실 것이다.
He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you.
15 아버지께서 가지고 계신 것은 모두 다 나의 것이다. 그래서 성령께서 내게 들은 것을 너희에게 알려 주시리라고 내가 말했던 것이다."
All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.
