사도행전 16:22-34
22 군중까지 합세해서 그들을 공격하자 치안관들은 부하를 시켜 바울로와 실라의 옷을 찢고 매질을 하게 하였다. The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten.
23 이렇게 몹시 때리고 나서는 그들을 감옥에 가두고 간수에게 단단히 지키라고 명령하였다.
After they had been severely flogged, they were thrown into prison, and the jailer was commanded to guard them carefully.
24 명령을 받은 간수는 그들을 깊숙한 감방에 집어 낳고 발목을 차꼬로 단단히 채워 두었다.
Upon receiving such orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.
25 때는 한밤중이었다. 바울로와 실라는 기도하면서 하나님을 찬미하고 있었고 다른 죄수들은 그것을 듣고 있었다. About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
26 그 때 갑자기 큰 지진이 일어나 감옥을 기초부터 온통 뒤흔들어 놓는 바람에 문이 모두 열리고 죄수들을 묶어 두었던 쇠사슬이 다 풀리고 말았다.
Suddenly there was such a violent earthquake that the foundations of the prison were shaken. At once all the prison doors flew open, and everybody's chains came loose.
27 간수가 잠을 깨어 감옥문들이 열려 있는 것을 보고는 죄수들이 다 도망쳤으려니 하고 칼을 빼어 자살하려고 하였다. The jailer woke up, and when he saw the prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped.
28 그 때에 바울로가 큰 소리로 "당신의 몸을 해치지 마시오. 우리가 다 여기 있소" 하고 알렸다.
But Paul shouted, "Don't harm yourself! We are all here!"
29 간수는 등불을 찾아 들고 뛰어 들어가 무서워 떨면서 바울로와 실라 앞에 엎드렸다.
The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.
30 그리고 그들을 밖으로 데리고 나가서 "두 분 선생님, 제가 어떻게 해야 구원을 얻겠습니까?" 하고 물었다. He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31 "주 예수를 믿으시오. 그러면 당신과 당신네 집안이 다 구원을 얻을 것입니다." 그들은 이렇게 대답하고 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."
32 간수와 그 집안 온 식구들에게 주님의 말씀을 들려주었다.
Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house.
33 간수는 한밤 중이었는데도 그 두 사람을 데려다가 상처를 씻어 주고 그 자리에서 그와 온 가족이 세례를 받았다.  At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his family were baptized.
34 그리고 바울로와 실라를 자기 집에 데리고 가서 음식을 대접하며 하나님을 믿게 된 것을 온 가족과 함께 기뻐하였다.
The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God--he and his whole family.

시편 138 Of David.
1 야훼여, 내 마음 다하여 감사기도 드립니다. 당신을 모시고 섰는 이들 앞에서 당신을 찬양합니다.
I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; before the "gods" I will sing your praise.
2 거룩한 당신의 궁전 향하여 엎드려 인자함과 성실함을 우러르며 당신의 이름 받들어 감사기도 드립니다. 언약하신 그 말씀, 당신 명성보다 크게 퍼졌사옵니다.
I will bow down toward your holy temple and will praise your name for your love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word.
3 내가 부르짖을 때 당신은 들어 주시고 힘을 한껏 북돋우어 주셨습니다.
When I called, you answered me; you made me bold and stouthearted.
4 야훼여, 당신의 언약 말씀을 듣고서 세상의 모든 왕들이 당신께 감사노래 부릅니다.
May all the kings of the earth praise you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth.
5 그들이 야훼께서 밟으신 길을 찬양하며 "야훼 그 영광 크시다" 노래합니다.
May they sing of the ways of the LORD, for the glory of the LORD is great.
6 야훼여, 당신은 높이 계셔도 낮은 사람 굽어 보시고 멀리 계셔도 거만한 자 아십니다.
Though the LORD is on high, he looks upon the lowly, but the proud he knows from afar.
7 내가 고생길을 걸을 때에 이 몸 살려 주시며, 손을 드시어 살기 띤 원수들을 치시고 오른손으로 붙들어 이 몸 구해 주십니다. Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes, with your right hand you save me.
8 야훼여, 모든 일 나를 위해 하심이오니, 이미 시작하신 일에서 손을 떼지 마소서. 당신의 사랑 영원하시옵니다. The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever--do not abandon the works of your hands.

요한복음 16:5-11
5 나는 지금 나를 보내신 분에게 돌아간다. 그런데도 너희는 어디로 가느냐고 묻기는커녕
"Now I am going to him who sent me, yet none of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'
6 오히려 내가 한 말 때문에 모두 슬픔에 잠겨 있다.
Because I have said these things, you are filled with grief.
7 그러나 사실은 내가 떠나가는 것이 너희에게는 더 유익하다. 내가 떠나가지 않으면 그 협조자가 너희에게 오시지 않을 것이다. 그러나 내가 가면 그분을 보내겠다.
But I tell you the truth: It is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Counselor will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
8 그분이 오시면 죄와 정의와 심판에 관한 세상의 그릇된 생각을 꾸짖어 바로잡아 주실 것이다.
When he comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment:
9 그분은 나를 믿지 않은 것이 바로 죄라고 지적하실 것이며
in regard to sin, because men do not believe in me;
10 내가 아버지께 돌아가고 너희가 나를 보지 못하게 된다는 것이 하나님의 정의를 나타내시는 것이라고 가르치실 것이고
in regard to righteousness, because I am going to the Father, where you can see me no longer;
11 이 세상의 권력자가 이미 심판을 받았다는 사실로써 정말 심판을 받을 자가 누구인지를 보여 주실 것이다."
and in regard to judgment, because the prince of this world now stands condemned.
