합주를 위한 조언들


  
Play only when needed.
필요할 때만 연주한다.
  
Don't play when not needed.
필요없을 때는 연주하지 않는다.
  
Tune and prepare silently.
조용하게 조율하고 준비한다.
  
Tune before starting to play.
연주하기 전에 조율한다.
  
Play with intentions.
의도를 갖고 연주한다.
  
Play complementarily of others.
다른 연주자에게 보완이 되도록 연주한다.
  
Find space and play in it.
공간을 찾아서 그 안에서 연주한다.
  
Create space for others to play in it.
다른 연주자가 연주할 수 있도록 공간을 만들어 준다.
  
If others are playing high, play low.
다른 사람이 높게 연주하면 나는 낮게 연주한다.
  
If others are playing with free rhythm, play in steady, locked rhythm.
다른 사람이 자유로운 리듬으로 연주하면 나는 균일하고 정확한 리듬으로 연주한다.
  
Play music as if you are communicating in words.
말로서 대화하고 있는듯이 연주한다.
  
Play instrument as if there is no instrument. Play from the heart. Don't think about what the fingers are doing. Music should flow spontaneously.
악기를 연주할 때 마치 악기가 없는 듯이 느끼며 연주한다. 가슴으로부터 연주한다. 손가락이 무엇을 하는지 의식하지 말 것. 음악은 자연발생적으로 흘러 나와야 한다.
  
Listen to music as if you are playing the music yourself. Try to imagine and feel the emotion and the passion of the musician who's playing. Imagine the finger movements. Picture the musician's head, shoulder, body, face, arm, and leg moving in concert with the feeling of the music.
음악을 들을 때는 스스로 연주를 하고 있는 것처럼 듣는다. 연주를 하고 있는 연주가의 감정과 열정을 상상하여 느껴보도록 노력한다. 손가락의 움직임을 상상해 볼 것. 음악의 느낌과 일치되도록 연주가의 머리, 어깨, 몸, 얼굴, 팔, 다리 등을 머릿속에 그려본다.
  
Always listen to others while playing. Other musicians are conversing with you and do not want you to go into monologue all the time.
연주를 하는 동안 항상 다른 연주를 듣는다. 다른 연주가들은 당신과 대화를 하고 있는 것이며 당신이 항상 독백만 하기를 원하지 않는다.
  
Be faithful to your own musical instincts. Do not try to play just to please the listener.
자신의 음악적 본능에 충실하시오. 듣는 사람을 즐거이 하기 위해서만 연주하지 않도록 하시오.
  
Do not play out of habit. Make each note and passage sound fresh and new each time you play. Convey new ideas and understanding you acquired since the last time you played the same music.
습관적으로 연주하지 마시오. 연주할 때마다 각각의 음표와 구절이 새롭고 신선하게 들리도록 하시오. 같은 음악을 지난 번에 연주했을 때 이후로 얻은 새로운 아이디어와 이해를 전달하시오.
  
Communicate with the listeners through your music. Let the listeners understand what it is you're trying to convey through your music.
당신의 음악을 통해서 듣는 사람과 대화를 하시오. 당신의 음악을 통해서 듣는 사람에게 무엇을 전달하려고 하는지 이해를 시키도록 하시오.
  
Play with clear intentions. Enunciate words and notes.
명확한 의도를 갖고 연주를 하시오. 단어와 음표를 명확히 발성하시오.
  
If singing, pay close attention to the pronunciation. Sing with confidence. Let your voice project forward, not inward. Always face front and up.
노래를 부르는 경우엔 발음에 각별히 주의하시오. 자신감을 갖고 노래하시오. 목소리가 안으로 수그러들게 하지 말고 밖으로 뻗쳐나가에 하시오. 항상 정면 위로 얼굴을 향하시오.
  
If there is a conductor, always follow conductor's instructions.
지휘자가 있으면 항상 지휘자의 지도를 따르시오.

Tips for Christian Musicians
찬양 사역자를 위한 조언

  
Pray before and after praise or practice.
찬양이나 연습 전후에 항상 기도를 하시오.
  
Always remember that it is God who gave you the voice and fingers to be able to play.
노래를 부를 수 있는 목소리와 연주를 할 수 있는 손가락을 주신 분이 하나님이란 것을 항상 기억하시오.
  
Praise as though it is your own testimonial, confession, and witnessing.
찬양은 본인의 간증이고 신앙고백이자 증언인 듯이 합니다.
  
Do not play music for the sake of music. It is not music that is important, but rather, praise should be the focus.
음악을 위해서 연주를 하진 마시오. 중요한 것은 음악이 아니고 찬양이 중심이 되어야 합니다.
  
If any musical differences among the musicians or listeners stumble you, give up the music. Music is not more worthy than the love you should have toward each other. There is a commandment to love your neighbors but there is no commandment to play music to praise.
만약에 연주자들 간이나 듣는 사람 사이의 음악적인 이견이 당신을 실족케 한다면 음악을 포기하시오. 서로간에 가져야 하는 사랑보다 음악이 더 가치 있는 것은 아닙니다. 이웃을 사랑하라는 계명은 있지만 찬양하기 위해서 음악을 연주하라는 계명은 없습니다.
  
Praise with joy. Share the joy with others through praise. If playing seems to be a burden, pray for renewed illumination why this praise is important to God and you. Be joyful even when not playing music.
기쁘게 찬양하시오. 찬양을 통해서 기쁨을 남들과 나누시오. 만약에 연주가 짐이 되는 듯하면 왜 이 찬양이 하나님과 당신에게 중요한지에 관한 새로운 깨달음을 받기 위해 기도하시오. 음악을 연주하지 않는 순간에도 기쁨을 가지시오.
  
Try to know the story behind each lyric and tune. Look up the origin of the words. Make them your own.
각 가사와 음률 뒤에 있는 이야기들을 배우도록 노력하시오. 단어들의 유래를 찾아 보시오. 그리고 그 것들을 자신의 것으로 만드시오.
  
Pray for God's Kingdom and peace before, during and after the praise.
하나님의 나라와 평강을 위해 찬양 전, 중간, 후에 기도하시오.
  
God is the ultimate conductor. Always follow God's instructions.
하나님은 궁극적인 지휘자입니다. 항상 하나님의 지도를 따르시오.
