그의 기도는 다름 아닌 하나님의 임재에 대한 의식이였다.
기도할 때면 거룩한 사랑 외에는 다른 어떤 것에도 그의 영혼은 무감각했다.
정해 둔 기도 시간이 지났을 때라도, 여전히 힘을 다해 주님을 찬양하며 하나님과 동행했기 때문에,
달라진 모습 없이 끊임없는 기쁨 가운데 삶을 보냈다.
그런 가운데서도 더 많이 성장해야 할 때면, 주님께서 고난을 주시기를 소망했다.

주님이 우리를 기만하지 않을 것임을 확신하며
단호하게 온 마음을 쏟아 주님을 온전히 신뢰하고 우리 자신을 완전히 그분께 굴복시켜야 한다.

That his prayer was nothing else but a sense of the presence of God,
his soul being at that time insensible to everything but Divine love:
and that when the appointed times of prayer were past,
he found no difference, because he still continued with God,
praising and blessing Him with all his might, so that he passed his life in continual joy;
yet hoped that God would give him somewhat to suffer, when he should grow stronger.
That we ought, once for all, heartily to put our whole trust in God,
and make a total surrender of ourselves to Him, secure that He would not deceive us.
