1고린 2:1-5
1 형제 여러분, 내가 여러분을 찾아갔을 때에 나는 유식한 말이나 지혜를 가지고 하나님의 그 심오한 진리를 전하려고 하지는 않았습니다. When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.
2 그것은 내가 여러분과 함께 지내는 동안 예수 그리스도, 특히 십자가에 달리신 그리스도 외에는 아무것도 생각하지 않기로 하였기 때문입니다.
For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
3 사실 나는 여러분에게 갔을 때 약하였고 두려워서 몹시 떨었습니다.
I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling.
4 그리고 내가 말을 하거나 설교를 할 때에도 지혜롭고 설득력 있는 언변을 쓰지 않고 오로지 하나님의 성령과 그의 능력만을 드러내려고 하였습니다. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power,
5 그것은 여러분의 믿음이 인간의 지혜에 바탕을 두지 않고 하나님의 능력에 바탕을 두게 하려는 것이었습니다. so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.

시편 33:12-21
12 야훼께서 당신 겨레로 뽑으시고 몸소 그들의 하나님이 되어 주신 민족은 복되다.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD, the people he chose for his inheritance.
13 야훼, 하늘에서 굽어보시며, 사람들을 낱낱이 살펴 보신다.
From heaven the LORD looks down and sees all mankind;
14 지상에 사는 모든 사람을 당신 거처에서 내려다보신다.
from his dwelling place he watches all who live on earth--
15 사람들의 마음을 몸소 빚어 주신 분이시라, 사람이 하는 일 모르는 것이 없으시다.
he who forms the hearts of all, who considers everything they do.
16 왕들아, 너희가 대군을 거느렸다고 이길 성싶으냐? 힘 좀 있다 해서 궁지에서 살아날 성싶으냐?
No king is saved by the size of his army; no warrior escapes by his great strength.
17 군마만 믿다가는 살아나기 어렵고, 대군을 거느렸다 해서 사지에서 벗어나지는 못하리라.
A horse is a vain hope for deliverance; despite all its great strength it cannot save.
18 야훼의 눈은 당신을 경외하는 자들을, 그 사랑을 바라는 자들을 지켜보시며
But the eyes of the LORD are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,
19 죽을 자리에서 목숨을 건져 주시고 굶주릴 때에 살려내신다.
to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine.
20 야훼는 우리의 도움, 우리의 방패, 우리는 애타게 그분을 기다린다.
We wait in hope for the LORD; he is our help and our shield.
21 그분 안에 우리의 기쁨이 있고 우리의 믿음은 거룩하신 그 이름에 있다.
In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name.
(22 우리가 이렇게 당신만을 기다리오니, 야훼여, 한결같은 당신 사랑베푸소서.
May your unfailing love rest upon us, O LORD, even as we put our hope in you.)

루가복음 4:16-30
16 예수께서는 자기가 자라난 나자렛에 가셔서 안식일이 되자 늘 하시던 대로 회당에 들어 가셨다. 그리고 성서를 읽으시려고 일어서서
He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.
17 이사야 예언서의 두루마리를 받아 들고 이러한 말씀이 적혀 있는 대목을 펴서 읽으셨다. The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
18 "주님의 성령이 나에게 내리셨다. 주께서 나에게 기름을 부으시어 가난한 이들에게 복음을 전하게 하셨다. 주께서 나를 보내시어 묶인 사람들에게는 해방을 알려 주고 눈먼 사람들은 보게 하고, 억눌린 사람들에게는 자유를 주며 "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,
19 주님의 은총의 해를 선포하게 하셨다."  to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."
20 예수께서 두루마리를 말아서 시중들던 사람들에게 되돌려 주고 자리에 앉으시자 회당에 모였던 사람들의 눈이 모두 예수에게 쏠렸다. Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him,
21 예수께서는 "이 성서의 말씀이 오늘 너희가 들은 이 자리에서 이루어졌다" 하고 말씀하셨다.
and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
22 사람들은 모두 예수를 칭찬하였고 그가 하시는 은총의 말씀에 탄복하며 "저 사람은 요셉의 아들이 아닌가?" 하고 수군거렸다. All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" they asked.
23 예수께서는 "너희는 필경 '의사여, 네 병이나 고쳐라' 는 속담을 들어 나더러 가파르나움에서 했다는 일을 네 고장인 여기에서도 해 보라고 하고 싶을 것이다" 하시고는
Jesus said to them, "Surely you will quote this proverb to me: 'Physician, heal yourself! Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.'"
24 또 이렇게 말씀하셨다. "사실 어떤 예언자도 자기 고향에서는 환영을 받지 못한다.
"I tell you the truth," he continued, "no prophet is accepted in his hometown.
25 잘 들어라. 엘리야 시대에 삼 년 반 동안이나 하늘이 닫혀 비가 내리지 않고 온 나라에 심한 기근이 들었을 때 이스라엘에는 과부가 많았지만
I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.
26 하나님께서는 엘리야를 그들 가운데 아무에게도 보내시지 않고 다만 시돈 지방 사렙다 마을에 사는 어떤 과부에게만 보내 주셨다.
Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.
27 또 예언자 엘리사 시대에 이스라엘에는 많은 나병 환자가 살고 있었지만 그들은 단 한 사람도 고쳐 주시지 않고 시리아 사람인 나아만 만을 깨끗하게 고쳐 주셨다."
And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed--only Naaman the Syrian."
28 회당에 모였던 사람들은 이 말씀을 듣고는 모두 화가 나서
All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.
29 들고일어나 예수를 산 벼랑까지 끌고 가서 밀어 떨어뜨리려 하였다.
They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff.
30 그러나 예수께서는 그들의 한가운데를 지나서 자기의 갈 길을 가셨다.
But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.
