여호수아 24:1-2, 14-18
1 여호수아는 온 이스라엘 지파들을 세겜으로 소집하였다. 이스라엘의 장로, 어른, 법관, 공무원들이 그의 부름을 받아 하나님 앞에 나서자.
Then Joshua assembled all the tribes of Israel at Shechem. He summoned the elders, leaders, judges and officials of Israel, and they presented themselves before God.
2 여호수아는 온 백성에게 이렇게 말하였다. "이스라엘의 하나님 야훼께서 말씀하셨소. '옛적에 너희 조상들은 유프라테스강 건너 저 편에 살고 있을 때 다른 신들을 섬겼었다. 아브라함과 나홀의 아비 데라도 그러했다.  Joshua said to all the people, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: 'Long ago your forefathers, including Terah the father of Abraham and Nahor, lived beyond the River and worshiped other gods.
14 그러니 여러분은 이제 야훼를 경외하며 일편단심으로 그를 섬기시오. 여러분의 조상들이 유프라테스강 건너편에서도 섬겼고 에집트에서도 섬겼던 다른 신들을 버리고 야훼를 섬기시오.
"Now fear the LORD and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your forefathers worshiped beyond the River and in Egypt, and serve the LORD.
15 만일 야훼를 섬기고 싶지 않거든, 누구를 섬길 것인지 여러분이 오늘 택하시오. 유프라테스강 건너편에서 여러분의 조상들이 섬기던 신을 택하든지, 여러분이 들어 와서 살고 있는 이 땅 아모리인의 신을 택하든지 결정하시오. 그러나 나와 내 집은 야훼를 섬기겠소."
But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD."
16 백성들이 대답하였다. "우리가 야훼를 저버리고 다른 신들을 섬기다니 될 법이나 한 말입니까?
Then the people answered, "Far be it from us to forsake the LORD to serve other gods!
17 우리를, 아니 우리 조상들을 에집트 땅 종살이하던 집에서 이끌어내신 분이 바로 우리 하나님 야훼이신데 어찌 그럴 수 있겠습니까? 그리고 우리가 이리로 오는 도중에 시종 지켜 주셨고 우리가 여러 민족들 사이를 뚫고 지나오는 동안 줄곧 지켜 주시지 않으셨습니까?
It was the LORD our God himself who brought us and our fathers up out of Egypt, from that land of slavery, and performed those great signs before our eyes. He protected us on our entire journey and among all the nations through which we traveled.
18 모든 민족을, 이 땅에 사는 아모리인들까지도 우리 앞에서 몰아 내신 분은 야훼이십니다. 그러니 우리도 야훼를 섬기겠습니다. 그분이 우리의 하나님이십니다."
And the LORD drove out before us all the nations, including the Amorites, who lived in the land. We too will serve the LORD, because he is our God."

시편 34:15-22
15 야훼의 눈길, 의인들을 돌아보시고 그의 귀는 그들의 부르짖는 소리를 들으신다.
The eyes of the LORD are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 악한 일을 하고 야훼 앞에서 숨을 길 없다. 그 이름은 땅 위에서 영영 사라지고 말리라.
the face of the LORD is against those who do evil, to cut off the memory of them from the earth.
17 살려 달라 소리치면 야훼께서 그 소리 들으시고, 모든 곤경에서 그들을 구해 주신다.
The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears them; he delivers them from all their troubles.
18 실망한 사람 옆에 야훼 함께 계시고 낙심한 사람들을 붙들어 주신다.
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 올바른 사람에게 불행이 겹쳐도 야훼께서는 모든 곤경에서 그를 구해 주시고
A righteous man may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all;
20 뼈 한 마디도 부러지지 않도록 고이고이 지켜 주신다.
he protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.
21 악인들은 그 행실로써 죽음을 부르고 의인을 미워하는 자 멸망하리라.
Evil will slay the wicked; the foes of the righteous will be condemned.
22 야훼께서 당신 종의 목숨을 구하시니 그에게 피신하는 자는 죽지 않으리라.
The LORD redeems his servants; no one will be condemned who takes refuge in him.

요한복음 6:56-69
56 내 살을 먹고 내 피를 마시는 사람은 내 안에서 살고 나도 그 안에서 산다.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him.
57 살아 계신 아버지께서 나를 보내셨고 내가 아버지의 힘으로 사는 것과 같이 나를 먹는 사람도 나의 힘으로 살 것이다. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.
58 이것이 바로 하늘에서 내려 온 빵이다. 이 빵은 너희의 조상들이 먹고도 결국 죽어 간 그런 빵이 아니다. 이 빵을 먹는 사람은 영원히 살 것이다." This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever."
59 이것은 예수께서 가파르나움 회당에서 가르치실 때 하신 말씀이다.
He said this while teaching in the synagogue in Capernaum.
60 제자들 가운데 여럿이 이 말씀을 듣고 "이렇게 말씀이 어려워서야 누가 알아들을 수 있겠는가?" 하며 수군거렸다.
On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?"
61 예수께서 제자들이 당신이 말씀을 못마땅해하는 것을 알아채시고"내 말이 귀에 거슬리느냐?
Aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, Jesus said to them, "Does this offend you?
62 사람의 아들이 전에 있던 곳으로 올라가는 것을 보게 되면 어떻게 하겠느냐?
What if you see the Son of Man ascend to where he was before!
63 육적인 것은 아무 쓸모가 없지만 영적인 것은 생명을 준다. 내가 너희에게 한 말은 영적인 것이며 생명이다. The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.
64 그러나 너희 가운데는 믿지 않는 사람들이 있다." 하고 말씀하셨다. 예수께서는 믿지 않는 사람들이 누구며 자기를 배반할 자가 누구인지 처음부터 알고 계셨던 것이다.
Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him.
65 예수께서는 또 이어서 "그래서 나는 아버지께서 허락하신 사람이 아니면 나에게 올 수 없다고 말했던 것이다" 하고 말씀하셨다. He went on to say, "This is why I told you that no one can come to me unless the Father has enabled him."
66 이 때부터 많은 제자들이 예수를 버리고 물러갔으며 더 이상 따라 다니지 않았다.
From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.
67 그래서 예수께서는 열 두 제자를 보시고 "자, 너희는 어떻게 하겠느냐? 너희도 떠나가겠느냐?" 하고 물으셨다. "You do not want to leave too, do you?" Jesus asked the Twelve.
68 그러자 시몬 베드로가 나서서 "주님, 주님께서 영원한 생명을 주는 말씀을 가지셨는데 우리가 주님을 두고 누구를 찾아가겠습니까?
Simon Peter answered him, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.
69 우리는 주님께서 하나님이 보내신 거룩한 분이심을 믿고 또 압니다" 하고 대답하였다.
We believe and know that you are the Holy One of God."

에베소서 6:10-20
10 내가 끝으로 여러분에게 권고할 말은 이것입니다. 여러분은 주님과 함께 살면서 그분에게서 강한 힘을 받아 굳세게 되십시오.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 속임수를 쓰는 악마에 대항할 수 있도록 하나님께서 주시는 무기로 완전무장을 하십시오.
Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.
12 우리가 대항하여 싸워야 할 원수들은 인간이 아니라 권세와 세력의 악신들과 암흑세계의 지배자들과 하늘의 악령들입니다. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 그러므로 지금 하나님의 무기로 완전무장을 하십시오. 그래야 악한 무리가 공격해 올 때에 그들을 대항하여 원수를 완전히 무찌르고 승리를 거둘 수 있을 것입니다.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 그러므로 굳건히 서서 진리로 허리를 동이고 정의로 가슴에 무장을 하고 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 발에는 평화의 복음을 갖추어 신고
and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 손에는 언제나 믿음의 방패를 잡고 있어야 합니다. 그 방패로 여러분은 악마가 쏘는 불화살을 막아 꺼 버릴 수 있을 것입니다. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 구원의 투구를 받아쓰고 성령의 칼을 받아 쥐십시오. 성령의 칼은 하나님의 말씀입니다.
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 여러분은 또한 언제나 기도하며 하나님의 도우심을 청하십시오. 모든 경우에 성령의 도움을 받아 기도하십시오. 늘 깨어서 꾸준히 기도하며 모든 성도들을 위하여 간구하십시오.
And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.
19 나를 위해서도 기도해 주십시오. 내가 말을 할 때 마땅히 해야 할말을 하고 복음의 심오한 진리를 전할 때에 담대하게 말할 수 있도록 하나님께 기도해 주십시오.
Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,
20 나는 지금 갇혀있기는 하지만 이 복음을 전할 사명을 띤 사람입니다. 그러니 마땅히 해야 할 말은 대담하게 말할 수 있게 되기를 빕니다.
for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.
