사도행전 12:1-11
1 이 무렵 헤로데왕이 교회의 모모한 사람들에게 박해의 손을 뻗쳐 It was about this time that King Herod arrested some who belonged to the church, intending to persecute them.
2 우선 요한의 형 야고보를 잘라 죽였다.
He had James, the brother of John, put to death with the sword.
3 유다인들이 좋아하는 것을 보고 이번에는 또 베드로를 잡아 오라고 하였다. 그 때는 바로 무교절 기간이었다. When he saw that this pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This happened during the Feast of Unleavened Bread.
4 그는 베드로를 잡아서 감옥에 가두고 네 사람으로 편성된 네 패의 경비병에게 맡겨 지키게 하였다. 과월절이 지나면 그를 유다인들 앞에 끌어 낼 속셈이었던 것이다.
After arresting him, he put him in prison, handing him over to be guarded by four squads of four soldiers each. Herod intended to bring him out for public trial after the Passover.
5 이렇게 되어 베드로는 감옥에 갇혀 있었고 교회는 그를 위하여 하나님께 줄곧 기도를 드렸다.
So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him.
6 헤로데가 베드로를 유다인들 앞에 끌어 내려고 하던 그 전날 밤의 일이었다. 베드로는 두 개의 쇠사슬에 묶인 채 군인 두 사람 사이에서 잠을 자고 있었고 감옥 문 앞에는 경비병들이 지키고 있었다.
The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance.
7 그런데 갑자기 주의 천사가 나타나 베드로 앞에 서자 환한 빛이 감방을 비추었다. 천사가 베드로의 옆구리를 찔러 깨우며 "빨리 일어나라" 하고 재촉하였다. 그러자 곧 쇠사슬이 그의 두 손목에서 벗겨졌다. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists.
8 "허리띠를 띠고 신을 신어라" 하는 천사의 말을 듣고 베드로는 그대로 하였다. 그랬더니 천사는 "겉옷을 걸치고 나를 따라 오너라" 하였다. Then the angel said to him, "Put on your clothes and sandals." And Peter did so. "Wrap your cloak around you and follow me," the angel told him.
9 베드로는 천사를 따라 나가면서도 천사가 하는 일이 현실이 아니고 환상이려니 하였다.
Peter followed him out of the prison, but he had no idea that what the angel was doing was really happening; he thought he was seeing a vision.
10 그들이 첫째 초소와 둘째 초소를 지나 거리로 통하는 철문 앞에 다다르자 문이 저절로 열렸다. 그래서 천사와 함께 밖으로 나와 거리의 한 구간을 지나자 천사는 어느새 사라져 버렸다.
They passed the first and second guards and came to the iron gate leading to the city. It opened for them by itself, and they went through it. When they had walked the length of one street, suddenly the angel left him.
11 그제야 베드로가 정신이 나서 "나는 이제야 사실을 알았다. 주께서 천사를 보내셔서 헤로데의 손에서 나를 건지시고 유다 백성들이 잔뜩 꾸민 흉계에서 나를 벗어나게 하셨다" 하고 말하였다.
Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I know without a doubt that the Lord sent his angel and rescued me
시편 40:1-11 (For the director of music. Of David. A psalm)
1 야훼께 바라고 바랐더니 나를 굽어보시고 내 부르짖는 소리 들어주셨다.
I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 죽음의 구렁에서 나를 건져 주시고 진흙 수렁에서 나를 꺼내 주시어 바위 위에 내 발을 세워 주시고 내 걸음 힘차게 해 주셨다. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 내 입에서 새 노래가 터져 나와 우리 하나님을 찬양하게 되었다. 사람들은 나를 보고 옷깃을 여미며 야훼를 믿게 되리라. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
4 복되어라. 허수아비 우상에 속지 않고 야훼만 믿는 사람이여. Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods.
5 야훼, 나의 하나님, 우리를 위하여 놀라운 일을 많이도 하셨사오니 당신과 비길 자 아무도 없사옵니다. 그 이야기 세상에 알리고 또 알리려 하옵는데, 이루 다 셀 길이 없사옵니다.
Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
6 짐승이나 곡식의 예물은 당신께서 아니 원하시고 오히려 내 귀를 열어 주셨사오며 번제와 속죄제를 바치라 아니하셨기에 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require.
7 엎드려 아뢰었사옵니다. "제가 대령하였습니다". 나를 들어 두루마리에 적어 두신 것, 당신 뜻을 따르라시는 것인 줄 아옵니다.
Then I said, "Here I am, I have come--it is written about me in the scroll.
8 나의 하나님, 당신의 법을 내 마음 속에 간직하고 기뻐합니다.
I desire to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart."
9 이렇게 많은 사람이 모인 자리에서 당신의 정의를 알렸사옵니다. 야훼여, 아시다시피, 나는 입을 다물고 있을 수가 없사옵니다.
I proclaim righteousness in the great assembly; I do not seal my lips, as you know, O LORD.
10 당신의 정의를 내 마음 속에 숨겨 두지 않고, 당신의 진실하심과 구원을 알렸사옵니다. 당신의 사랑과 진리를 그 큰 모임에서 숨길수가 없었사옵니다.
I do not hide your righteousness in my heart; I speak of your faithfulness and salvation. I do not conceal your love and your truth from the great assembly.
11 야훼여, 당신의 그 인자하심 나에게서 거두지 마시고, 그 진실한 사랑으로 이 몸을 언제나 지켜 주소서.
Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.
마태복음 19:27-30
27 그 때에 베드로가 나서서 "보시다시피 저희는 모든 것을 버리고 주님을 따랐습니다. 그러니 저희는 무엇을 받게 되겠습니까?" 하고 물었다.
Peter answered him, "We have left everything to follow you! What then will there be for us?"
28 예수께서는 이렇게 대답하셨다. "나는 분명히 말한다. 너희는 나를 따랐으니 새 세상이 와서 사람의 아들이 영광스러운 옥좌에 앉을 때에 너희도 열 두 옥좌에 앉아 이스라엘 열 두 지파를 심판하게 될 것이다. Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
29 나를 따르려고 제 집이나 형제나 자매나 부모나 자식이나 토지를 버린 사람은 백 배의 상을 받을 것이며, 또 영원한 생명을 얻을 것이다.
And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or children or fields for my sake will receive a hundred times as much and will inherit eternal life.
30 그러나 첫째였다가 꼴찌가 되고 꼴지였다가 첫째가 되는 사람들이 많을 것이다."
But many who are first will be last, and many who are last will be first.
