열왕기 상 2:26-35 끝없는 순종

26 그리고 왕은 사제 에비아달에게 명령을 내렸다. "그대의 상속받은땅 아나돗으로 가시오. 그대는 죽어 마땅하나 그대가 선왕 다윗 밑에서 야훼 하나님의 궤를 책임졌었고 또 선왕과 온갖 고난을 같이한 것을 참작하여 목숨만은 살려 두겠소." To Abiathar the priest the king said, "Go back to your fields in Anathoth. You deserve to die, but I will not put you to death now, because you carried the ark of the Sovereign LORD before my father David and shared all my father's hardships."
27 이렇게 솔로몬은 에비아달을 야훼의 사제직에서 쫓아 내 버렸다. 이로써 야훼께서 실로에 있는 엘리의 가문을 두고 하신 말씀이 그대로 이루어졌다. So Solomon removed Abiathar from the priesthood of the LORD, fulfilling the word the LORD had spoken at Shiloh about the house of Eli.
28 이 소식이 요압에게 전해졌다. 그는 압살롬을 지지하지는 않았으나 아도니야를 지지했던 터이라 야훼의 장막으로 피신하여 제단의 뿔을 잡고 있었다.
When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the LORD and took hold of the horns of the altar.
29 사람들이 솔로몬왕에게 고하였다. "요압이 야훼의 장막으로 피신하여 제단 곁에 있읍니다." 솔로몬은 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 보내어 그를 쳐죽이게 하였다.
King Solomon was told that Joab had fled to the tent of the LORD and was beside the altar. Then Solomon ordered Benaiah son of Jehoiada, "Go, strike him down!"
30 브나야가 야훼의 장막으로 가서 요압에게 소리쳤다. "어명이오. 나오시오!" 그러나 그는 그 자리에서 죽겠다고 버티었다. 하는 수없이 브나야는 왕에게 보고하여, 요압이 이러저러하게 대답하더라고 알렸다.
So Benaiah entered the tent of the LORD and said to Joab, "The king says, 'Come out!'" But he answered, "No, I will die here." Benaiah reported to the king, "This is how Joab answered me."
31 왕이 브나야에게 다시 명령을 내렸다. "그의 원대로 해 주시오. 그를 죽여 묻으시오. 그리하면 요압이 까닭없이 피를 흘려 나와 내 아버지의 가문에 씌웠던 죄가 벗겨지는 것이오.
Then the king commanded Benaiah, "Do as he says. Strike him down and bury him, and so clear me and my father's house of the guilt of the innocent blood that Joab shed.
32 요압은 선왕 다윗께서 모르는 사이에 자기보다 떳떳하고 더 잘난 두 사람, 이스라엘의 군사령관 넬의 아들 아브넬과 유다의 군사령관 예델의 아들 아마사를 살해한 죄를 야훼께 받은 것이오.
The LORD will repay him for the blood he shed, because without the knowledge of my father David he attacked two men and killed them with the sword. Both of them--Abner son of Ner, commander of Israel's army, and Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah's army--were better men and more upright than he.
33 두 장군을 죽인 죄값으로 요압과 그 후손들은 길이 망하겠지만 다윗과 그 후손, 그 왕실과 왕좌는 야훼께서 길이 흥하게 해 주실것이오."  May the guilt of their blood rest on the head of Joab and his descendants forever. But on David and his descendants, his house and his throne, may there be the LORD'S peace forever."
34 그리하여 여호야다의 아들 브나야는 요압이 있는 데로 올라 가 그를 쳐죽였다. 요압의 시체는 광야에 있는 자기의 집에 안장되었다. So Benaiah son of Jehoiada went up and struck down Joab and killed him, and he was buried on his own land in the desert.
35 왕은 요압 대신에 여호야다의 아들 브나야를 군사령관으로 임명하고 에비아달의 자리에 사제 사독을 앉혔다. The king put Benaiah son of Jehoiada over the army in Joab's position and replaced Abiathar with Zadok the priest.

끝까지 하느님을 섬기는 사람은 야훼께서 길이 흥하게 해 주심을 믿고 고난가운데도 주님의 신실하심을 붙들기를 기도합니다.
